You’re right. Apparently the FBI notified the secret service three hours they were coming. Hardly a raid.
Why on earth would Trump nominate a "never-Trumper" to be head of the FBI? Are you saying Trump is stupid?
If it is about docs, they will never bring a charge. Just recover and move on. That this was done very quietly until his tweet is telling. Probably had one of his lawyers there with them. Curious about the safe. Didn’t Trump’s statement have a question mark or was that added after by media?
no, the DC criminals were content to trade power while both engorging themselves. An outside force ahs turned the criminals in DC against each other in a tribal manner never seen before in our history. That weakens us as a country and strengthens our enemies as they fill the voids we leave behind while we fight amongst ourselves. This is exactly what Putin wanted when Hillary questioned the legitimacy of his election, to disrupt the fundamental bedrock of our democracy, the confidence in our elections.
If this turns out to be a partisan fishing expedition with nothing credible behind it, Trump *would* benefit from that IMO. Which is one more reason I hope and presume they wouldn't request and execute a search warrant casually and without thinking it through. Those of us who don't like Trump should wait and see what we learn and how it plays out, though many won't be happy unless there's an indictment. Conversely, most of the people who are already declaring that it's just a witch hunt and getting up in arms despite not having the details are probably not going to change their minds regardless of what comes out going forward.
You’re right to an extent, but from what I’ve read, some of the records he’s refused to turn over are ultra sensitive and bear on our nation’s security. He’s been repeatedly asked to turn them over. Is it your position, then, that the country should just say, “okay, keep them”? Your remark about Garland is way off base. He’s been extremely cautious and reluctant to go after a former president. Trump has left him only one other choice - do nothing. Do you honestly think the DOJ would seek a search warrant, and a federal judge would grant it, if this were merely a nothing burger and political stunt? Representatives from two of our three branches deemed the search essential.
No, there is a lot of proof and also a near confession when trump returned much of the stolen material (but apparently kept some).
And the fact this his Atty was in negotiations to return them for a year? The documents don’t belong to the President, but the White House. What happens when you elect a child
As I said earlier this is not a deflection that serves them well for the mid-terms. They don’t want to make the mid-terms to be about Trump, but like an oozing pimple on prom night there he is. So now their main issue, inflation, is taking a back seat.
I don't disagree with the effect, but I think you're giving Putin too much credit and Hillary too little here. She may be a power-hungry sleezebag, but she's not stupid by any stretch. He's crazy like a fox, but I don't think he wields that kind of influence (maybe I'm naïve on that count, wouldn't be the first time).
Has anything been mentioned? Fbi doesn’t prove its case to the press during a raid or right after. At this point we don’t know.
Interesting in a post from Dear Leader on “Truth”, for some reason he mentions HRC took antique furniture out of the White House. Seems like a odd thing to bring up from 22 yrs ago out of the blue.
Technically a magistrate isn’t an Article III judge. He almost certainly has at least some papers that are at least technically federal rather than personal records. The challenge is that all former presidents almost certainly do as well unless they literally walked out of the office and took nothing other than a calendar of campaign events with them. I’m staying out of this one until more facts come out, but in the abstract if it winds up being nothing more than “we used a police raid to recover archival records,” that would not be a great look for DOJ.
