This is just BS. I'm conservative and I would never fly the flag upside down unless it was a situation of dire distress. I stand for the National Anthem as well. There are other ways to show your displeasure but disrespecting the flag is not one of them in my opinion.

I think I get your OP. There are a lot of people on the left that feel the American Flag has been used in place of the Confederate Flag by those on the right. Especially when you see it flown along side Trump flags, Don't Tread On Me Flags, Let's Go Brandon flags, etc.

I can't remember what comedian said it, but essentially, America is the only country where the more American flag and garb you are wearing, the less patriotic you probably are.
You beat me to it. I'm one of those people (but not "on the left," I like to play center field). Today when I see the American flag at someone's home, I assume rightly or wrongly that it's a Trump supporter, saying "Look at this, I'm a real patriot, not a Democrat socialist communist" (I may have left something out in that string of labels but those are the ones I remember). If you display the American flag because you are a real patriot, and not a supporter of treason, then good for you. Nowadays it's just difficult to tell. (My next-door neighbors have an American flag in their front yard. And a couple of years ago they had a flag alongside it that said "Trump 2020. No more bullshit.")

When I lived in a two story house On Memorial Day I would fly my flag that covered the transfer case of fallen US Army soldier killed in Iraq in Aug 2007. The flag has a tear in it and was no longer considered usable. Some of you are real drama queens.

Stupid thread, clearely a flamer. I'm very progressive and have ZERO issues with Americans displaying the colors. The dixie stars and bars are another matter, but old Glory is our standard and should be treated with due respect, myself, I will NEVER FORGET the raising of it on Mt. Surbiachi / Iwo Jima. Or Normandy Or Pyongyang Or in the Old Fortress of Hua City, in Vietnam..............or many other places Still gives me chills to think about it.
