There is no way to defend this raid that I will ever agree with. None. Don't ask questions as I have no intention of having a discussion with you on this. That you cannot and will not condemn this action says all I need to know about you and all of those here like you who are defending this action used by Joe Biden in weaponizing the DOJ/FBI into a real US KGB.

How guilty do you have to be for a federal judge that you appointed to sign off on a search warrant issued by an FBI director that you also appointed and executed by a DOJ attorney that you also appointed?

Republicans speak out against FBI raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate

This is how today’s republicans try to deflect. Dems have been on a good run and midterms look better for them than expected. The search of Trumps’s residence was absolutely necessary and legal in order to preserve the people’s - not Trumps’s - records AND protect national security. Republicans know that, but what do they do? They trot out that ass MCarthy to scream bloody murder with the aim of diverting attention away from yet another outrageous and undemocratic act by the Trumpster. Papers generated by POTUS are the people’s papers, not a former President’s. Trump knew not to take them to begin with and subsequently refused to return all of them.

The Dems better hope they get a conviction here, because if not, this is galvanizing the right. Reading around today, even republicans who aren’t trump folks including moderates are coming to his defense. The Dems are making him a martyr, and it’s an easy story to tell.
Dem administration and the prez is likely Trump’s opponent in ‘24, the AG is the guy the republicans screwed over for he USSC who has an axe to grind, similar charges to Hillary and trump gets the full treatment while Hillary skates, all against the back drop of an already severely divided and partisan country. Think that’s BS or don’t, but it will absolutely resonate across even the moderate right.

From a presidential POV if it’s truly just about the documents this is a relatively minor charge, unless it’s shown that they ended up in the hands of bad people... it’s not worth what it is going to do to the country and the precedent it’s going to set. Dems are cheering it on, but when the next Pub president does the same thing to eliminate a rival and uses this as precdent, we will see who is cheering.

if they nail him later for election interference it will be glossed over because most agree on the severity there, but if not, this precedent genuinely scares me.

so any POTUS should be able to take and keep unsecured whatever highly classified national security documents he wants and the rules governing those documents aren't really important?

I know. As you've stated repeatedly, you will never change. Not in the light of fact. Not in the light of reason. An audaciously closed mind.

You wallow in first impressions and flawed conclusions and are proud of it.

    Just wow.

    It wasn't a raid.

I may very well condemn it when the facts come out. Until then, I neither condone nor condemn it because I'm not an absolute partisan lunatic.

I haven't defended this, have I? It's poor form to put words in my mouth.

Then maybe you should add "Fascist" or something else. I'd just hate for people to think your claims are ridiculous because you don't have enough over-the-top descriptors in your label for the Democrat party.

You may have a point there. Republicans don’t seem to have that problem, especially in airport restrooms, but when you have to go bad you just pick one and go.

From DOJ’s webpage, he was appointed - basically hired from 64 applicants by a committee of federal judges. No presidential appt or senate confirmation

Oh really? Then explain this. Maybe you need to re-think your supposition... Is it all about signing a simple declaration? A simple process signature?

Obama puts his presidential records off-limits for 12 years

Both Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush signed their restriction letters less than two years after taking office. Obama waited until year eight of his presidency to sign his.

Clinton’s notice, signed in 1994, named then-first lady Hillary Clinton and close adviser Bruce Lindsey as official representatives under the Presidential Records Act.

Clinton’s letter was the subject of controversy in 2007 during Hillary Clinton’s first bid for the presidency.

I agree if you consider the criminals in DC the "enemy" in this case. It's a simple case of "if the public is too busy outraged at the other team, they won't be paying attention to what we're doing." The effect on foreign "enemies" is just an added bonus.
