Well thank god Gator Country threads are the arbiter of fact. Cmon man there was plenty of quotes from people in the IRS saying they sought out specific terms. Most of which were conservative in nature. I never said they sought out ONLY conservatives.
Can you show me where you said they sought out liberals too? It certainly wasn't in your original claim.
Did he say they ONLY sought conservatives? If not then logic dictates that all other groups might have been included. The gators play FSU. Does that statement lead you to believe they only play fsu? Of course not. So either he said ONLY conservatives or your being intellectually dishonest to cause an issue. Should be easy to find out which it is.

This is exactly the game he is playing. There is plenty of info out there about the period of 2010-2012 in particular being heavily waited against terms identified as conservative. I said targeted conservatives, I never said no democratic orgs were questioned. The volume difference though seems yo have been quite large.
He's right. I said republicans were targeted. That doesnt mean dem groups didnt still face the usual questions and denials, but they were not targeted. The IRS all bit admitted this Lerner apologized calling it "absolutely inappropriate". What would be inappropriate in treating the sides equally?
They were targeted in the same way Republicans were targeted. If they put a political term in the name of their supposedly social and educational foundations, they were targeted. It is inappropriate to short-cut checking based upon the name of the organization. Unfortunately, a ton of these sorts of organizations, which are just political influence operations masquerading as social and educational foundations for tax avoidance purposes, get through the IRS because they don't want the controversy of denials.
like most other issues this was wildly conflated into something it wasn’t. Both sides were targeted, but the conservative groups were of higher volume due to the nature of their advocacy position and names. I’m not clear conservative groups were disproportionately targeted, there were just more of them. The real issue that nobody talks about is this was forced upon the IRS and it was not something the IRS was well equipped to do. They aren’t a political organization. At the end of the day it’s hard to argue that any of these 501(3)c were truly non political entities. They were properly targeted. But they were ultimately allowed to skate because of trumped upon allegations of political discrimination.
This has become rock solid right wing lore even though there is no truth at all to it. Conservative vs. liberal group scrutiny was 60/40, which could easily be explained by a higher volume of right wing applications.

So by your awesome logic, if out of 100 audits, and 98 were conservative and 2 were liberal, you would bitch that we said the IRS targeted conservative groups. And you wonder why people don't take what you say seriously...

And you REALLY believe that Lerner did that without cover? I suppose that you believe the IRS Field Office in South Florida executed the raid yesterday without cover as well? Things like these don’t happen in business or government without substantial approval from above. Let’s look at Wells Fargo. People love to claim that all of their malfeasance over the last decade was a corporate strategy. I agree. People in the corporate world don’t stick their own neck out without some cover. But Democrats who hate Wells Fargo for what they did cannot imagine that higher ups knew exactly what Lerner was doing and most likely encouraged it. Same with yesterday. I don’t know what will come from yesterdays raid as far as any criminal charges against Trump, but I think it’s going to get real interesting when Trump releases the warrant and supporting documents today. Of course, Trump has absolutely no clue about hiring great legal representation so he might end up re-hiring Cohen, Rudy, or Powell and get rolled again.
