This bill follows months of negotiations. It didn't just pop up out of nowhere with the midterms approaching. If the midterms got them to refocus on climate change, good for them, good for us.
Hey genius, what percentage of tax payers do you think make less than 75K per year? On the top end, what percentage of tax payers make more than 200K per year?
Man using reconciliation vote and not throwing the American people a f'n bone or any real immediate inflation relief? Just cramming green initiatives down our throat. Then they act like its this amazing bill we will all prosper from. They plan on gaining some of the money back from auditing more people... smh
Hey Genius, what is the ethnic breakdown of people making less than 75k per year compared to percentage making more than 200k per year? Sure, keep targeting the minorities. Congrats Dems!
And what's the racial breakdown of those making more than 200K? Seems like the IRS is targeting rich white people to me.
LOL. If that's your argument thanks for confirming the IRS is targeting minorities. Congrats Dems! More enforcement of minorities!
I respectfully disagree, it’s a red herring. The Act will give the IRS the money it needs to go after tax cheats. His assertion is that it will go after “blacks and minorities” placing them in two different groups which he corrected in his next post. However it’s still wrongfully implying that the tax cheats are minorities. As to his data you’re defending as valid, it’s a three year old article, and its age is something you would have been critical of had I posted it. Thats fine and the data may have been accurate during the Trump administration, but there is no evidence the IRA would be targeting minorities more than anyone else. Even if it did give that appearance I would have no problem with going after tax evaders regardless of their race.
Sure, if you're defining rich white people as a minority, then the IRS is targeting minorities. Your graphic shows that 4.8% of audits were on incomes of greater than 10 million. Look up what percentage of earners make 10 million or more and get back to us.
Fun with numbers. You comment reminds me of a state representative who complained schools were failing because half the student test scores were below the average. FYI 54% of the country makes $75K or less, so why would it be a surprise to you that 51% would be examined?
Actually, you're wrong on that assertion as well. Basically everything you said was wrong. Way to go! Great Monday! Minorities are targeted in the over $200k bracket as well. Congrats DEMS! Target the Minorities!
I’m not sure you’re right about the economy. I think it is getting better, but I hasten to add that I don’t think it really has much to do with Biden one way or the other. As for your concern for our essential wage earner, I couldn’t agree more. Our immense national wealth ought to be shared more fairly in the form of higher wages. Of course, we know the result: it will be passed on to consumers and exacerbate inflation.
Out of curiosity what point are you trying to make? Given the right’s record on race relations I know you’re not saying minorities are unfairly targeted, so I believe what’s really upsetting you is the IRS being given more money to do their jobs.
Some pretty good information here Summary: PWBM estimates that the Inflation Reduction Act would reduce non-interest cumulative deficits by $248 billion over the budget window with no impact on GDP in 2031. The impact on inflation is statistically indistinguishable from zero. An illustrative scenario is also presented where Affordable Care Act subsidies are made permanent. Under this illustrative alternative, the 10-year deficit reduction estimate falls to $89 billion. LOL. I did. Putting your head in sand doesn't make it go away. Way to go, the Dems got more IRS agents to target minorities.
Republicans pushed the IRS to continue audits of EITC even as they cut their budgets to the bone, leading to dramatic reductions in high end audits but not to lower income audits. More funding should reverse these changes, which were pushed for by Republicans in Congress from 2011-2018. If you are interested in knowing what happened: How the IRS Was Gutted — ProPublica
Sure. Keep thinking that. Look at the graph showing WHERE the IRS is targeting. How is the most targeted IRS county in the country just happens to be 76% black. Just lucky I guess... You keep proving my point for me. Thanks.
