Just figured out the reason for the discrepancy. You've been using the data for the entire category of "Mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction" rather the subcategory of "oil and gas extraction".
No, he is reading the correct line, he is just insisting that the old data is more up to date than the revised data. Where said revisions were made after collecting more information. There isn't any logical reason for it, but the old numbers tell the story he wants to hear, so he is running with it.
Also thought that may have been a problem since the initially released data is almost always revised.
Not true. Read the report. In Table B1, oil and gas extraction has its own line for employment. I know No, I'm saying use the actual reports. I gave you the link to March 2020 where the January 2020 number has been revised upward too.
Reading comprehension problems? I gave you the March 2020 report link so this complaint of error has been put to bed too. I know you guys don't like the numbers and I understand why. However, I have present the highest level of data available for accuracy. That it doesn't paint the picture you want to paint is your problem, not mine.
Using the revised data for January 2020 from the March 2020 report, you are still wrong. Looks like a deep stater didn't like the real numbers either so he/she/they just inputted bullshit numbers for the graphs to make themselves feel better and to give you misinformed propaganda for solace. If I were in your shoes and have been misled for so long, I wouldn't be happy about it either.
And you said total employment was 158,714,000 in Jan 2020. Table B-1 from the March 2020 release shows total employment was at 152,212,000 in Jan 2020. So you were wrong there and current total employment of 152,536,000 exceeds the pre-pandemic high. Are you going to come back and tell us you were wrong?
There's not more up to date data. They made the revision listed in the March report and moved on. The p in January was removed in March. Do you really think revisions of over 20,000 are normal? Give me a break.
No, current data from new reporting doesn't. You just want that to be the case. There is no current released report of any kind that shows those numbers employed in oil and gas extraction in January or March 2020. You can't really be this dense can you? Given it's you, the answer is a likely yes.
Whatever, you think you have as current, now, for January or March 2020 is inaccurate. Tell you what, let's just throw this July 2022 report in the trash as it has a P and can be revised in the future by huge number changes based on the whim of the person doing the changes. No, I didn't think so. That's how silly you are being. The P for July 2022 will come off in the next few weeks. When that happens, that number will be the final number for July 2022 which will likely show up in the October 2022 release that covers September and August with both likely still using Ps.
I'm telling you, THE current BLS number is 137,800. That is an undeniable truth. If you want to choose to not believe it, that is up to you. It doesn't change the factual truth though. This is of course typical of you. You have a need to change the truth to suit your belief system, which is why you seek out right-wing websites that tell you what you want to hear. It is why you are so misinformed.
OK. Look up table B-1 in your own link and tell us what the number is for 'total nonfarm' for January 2020. That is the official total employment number that BLS uses. That is the number that determines how many jobs were added each month, by comparing that number to the previous month's number. Look that number up and get back to us with what you see.
