The anti-kneel/"muh flag" crowd has been shown this article about the former Green Beret countless times. They don't care. They staunchly believe that kneeling for the anthem is more disrespectful than storming the nation's Capitol and attempting to overturn an election.

I don’t disrespect the flag and don’t support what happened on the 6th. I also don’t respect anyone that disrespects the flag or supports what happened on the 6th. My values are obviously different than yours if you view the flag as just a symbol

 

My point was that someone who proudly competes for their country in the Olympics means they're not anti-American

 

I pinned several “off-topics” just now. Nothing personal to either side of the issue. We need to drop the kneeling BLM BS. It just isn’t relevant to the question at hand. If Griner was blonde-haired, blue-eyed, straight Valkyrie who stood up for the National Anthem even when no one was around to see and proclaimed her highest duty after basketball was to make as many American children as possible, then the basic premise here remains the same. She would still be a hostage taken under questionable circumstances at best (even if 100% guilty of having the banned substance on her person). We still can’t trade an actual dangerous criminal for a hostage. Her personal value, whatever anyone thinks it is, has nothing to do with it. The Russians and everyone else are just going to take more hostages to get more unequal trades. We simply can’t have it.
