I'm really surprised you are asking this question, as I would think you should know this. "Sustainably sourced", has nothing to do with the food that is labeled. Nor does Fair Trade, nor Farm to Market.
For example following definition.. "Sustainable sourcing is the integration of social, ethical and environmental performance factors into the process of selecting Suppliers.". When you buy something labeled "Sustainably Sourced" it's just to make you feel good about your purchase, nothing to do with the food. (hence my original comment). And the truth is you will never know if it is really "sustainably sourced" or it's just put on the label to increase sales (which i suspect happens quite often)

As stated, there has been no complaint or hint of discrimination. This government twist arm tactic is wrong and you know it.

But without a hint of evidence from poster or DeSantis, Florida is attacking public education with complaint of teaching CRT and sex gender identity lessons because.... that's different.

Are you dense? Christ almighty, it's like I sittin' here playing cards with my brother's kids or somethin'.

No state has lost funding to date. Read the damn memos. The memos lay out the complaint system and ultimate response if discrimination is found (and not corrected).

Apparently, the South Dakota governor got wind of this shit and is nipping it in the bud. Good for her. It's a loser for the dems so they wouldn't want to pull this BS so close to election day, but it's on the table with the Biden Administration for after election use. At least they now know they will be sued over it.

Not true. There are school boards and teachers who are still likely going to challenge this in practice. They planned for it including having to have books with the subjects in them removed even after the publishers were told to take it out.

I'm disappointed in myself for having to look up the source of that quote.

She can sue and fight for her right to discriminate against LGBT children. Doesn't make her a hero.

You are such a pawn to the culture war propaganda. No discrimination reported, no sanctions issued yet your panties are twisted so tight it's stopping the flow of blood to your brain. Which begs the question, where's your head?

How food is produced has nothing to do with the food? That seems like a pretty hard to support claim. I can see pointing out that un-official terms like "Sustainably sourced" are nothing more than marketing, although how it is "woke" is a question that is noticeably not answered in this reply other than it makes people feel better, but some of those terms (notably "Fair Trade") have certifications that could wind a company up in trouble if they don't abide by the rules (and have in the past).

Also, it is interesting how laughing at people who declared Cracker Barrel woke for offering an Impossible Foods option has now turned into how any claim meant to make customers feel better about their purchase is "woke" and how terrible that is, I guess. How is this not evidence that the derision of the term "woke" is really just people being mad that other people are trying to be better people/make better choices and that this maybe makes you feel bad if you don't want to do better?

Farm to Market, Fair Trade, and Sustainably Sourced have nothing to do with how the food is produced. Free Range, Grass Fed, Organic, Wild Caught ... All are relevant to food quality and production.. Repeat.. Not relevant to food production. sustainably sourced nor farm to market, nor fair trade. just feel good for the purchaser.. hence my original comment

Poster conflates challenging an unconstitutional authoritarian big gov't grab as evidence that school boards and teachers are teaching CRT and gender identity classes. SMH. That is perhaps a new low on the Pub IQ scale. Hint: an individual that supports pro-choice, might not actually be getting or ever have an abortion. Poster nor DeS has produced evidence of this in Fl classrooms.

They are going to challenge the practice of being required to follow the law and feed gay students? Because unless they cut off food for gays, they will not have funding cut. And unless they are faced with a finding cut, they will not have standing to challenge the rule. So. Why don’t you articulate exactly what the states plan to do that would trigger the rule and give them standing to challenge it. And if that involves cutting off food for any child, those states are doing exactly what you are complaining about. But thanks for comparing this to the new Florida law, because it shows that your interest in the law is not feeding children, but permitting states to discriminate against gays and to choose to not feed them.

And so we start to spend legal fees to defend a law that targets free speech with incomprehensible and vague language. Wedding cake ice cream company and others suing to enforce the law because corporate perspectives of inclusion are necessary to their business. They need to educate their employees and communicate with vendors and other companies. And the law facially prevents it.
https://amp.miamiherald.com/opinion/op-ed/article264170581.html And of course, DeSantis did identify that it was targeting “woke” speech.

When it comes to free speech, Conservatives can’t seem to understand the difference between the marketplace of ideas shaping society, and Gov using force to curtail ideas.

We seem to have come full circle from when Gov had to pass laws to be more “woke” because of our pesky Constitution, to Governors looking to stomp on free speech rights by punishing the private sector for being “too woke”. Conservatives being on the wrong side of history on both ends of course.

Ron acts like he’s governing Oklahoma, despite winning by the slimmest of margins in a purple state.

Does he actually believe all of the shit he proposes, or is it just political theater for his national run?

Been thinking of this Asimov quote recently given the trends the last three years. I guess this thread is a good home for it.

And you point is what? Let me guess corporations and companies can do NO wrong, and they never need to be set straight? Is that your point? LMFAO!

Corporations have been getting way with literal murder... for decades, especially in the past. It's always time to put the bad actors in their place.

Wow. You made all that crap up from my factual observation that DeSantis meddles in corporate affairs?

It is a return to dark ages thinking when the church suppressed information, limited education and outright lied to keep people in line. And anything outside of their belief system was punished as blasphemy. It just takes a different form now. Btw: it doesn’t matter whether the idea is truthful or not. Our constitution was passed with this history directly in mind. To prevent the kind of suppression that was so prevalent in Europe and England, which was a reason people left and revolted against the crown. These old and bad ideas never die. They just fester until they take hold again. As we say every Passover: @in every generation.” Marjorie Taylor Greene is given a slot to speak at CPAC and is cheered for proudly calling herself a Christian nationalist. And religious nationalism was exactly what the founding fathers— who revolted against Christian control of the government— sought to prevent in the First Amendment. Nothing wrong with Christianity. What is wrong is proclaiming it a national religion.
