Can I keep my non-autonomous car, though?

Thank god driving a car isn’t a constitutionally protected right. It’ll still be a struggle to make certain people give it up but that’s fine. Absolutely zero reason for people to die on the roads if it’s avoidable.

Interesting, so.. you're just going to come and take my car's?

What about Jay Leno, can he keep all his cars or will he have to "give them up" as well?

No one would have to take a vehicle unless you’re caught driving when you shouldn’t be.

Once autonomous driving is effective I anticipate increased driver training and proficiency standards including physical qualifications to operate outside autonomous modes.

I’m sure licenses will be attainable for Uber rich aficionados like Leno. But yes, laws will eventually be passed that will prevent people like you and me from driving our non-autonomous cars on public property. And it can’t happen soon enough.

Luckily this BS you're talking about will not be in my lifetime.

You really would like the government to have the power to tell every American that they can no longer drive their car that they paid for? Are they going to do a buy back? It will most likely be in phases anyway, what happens if people refuse? You only want uber rich people to be able to drive - thats it?

What about motor sports? We will let them have a pass too I guess just like all rich people or celebrities/sports figures get. I mean, after all, where would we be without their influencing? Do rich people even drive anyway?

How about when the power grid goes down? Or how about our military, when do we stop people from driving our military vehicles? Do you know how long that would take for the military to go autonomous? If not, do we then teach the person how to drive when they get into the military?

How about boats? we could do away with boating accidents and come take everyones boats too. Actually, this is kind of fun, making rules and taking people stuff. What else you guys got in mind? Im on board now, its fun stealing things that dont belong to me.

Its crazy how some of you just love to take peoples shit and trample on our rights to suit others. smh

It’s crazy how some see their hobbies as more important than saving 40,000 lives a year.

Non-autonomous cars will go the same way as horses. Some will bitch about it, because that’s what some like to do. Most will see it for what it is, progress.

Wow you're so smart. Maybe if you weren't tripping over yourself to try to make a joke because you are so much smarter than I am you would have taken the time to figure out Im talking about property rights.

Please do continue, you only prove my point even further about liberals and what type of people they are.

Well, certainly not in 40K people's lifetimes this year. But, yes, it will be in some of our lifetimes.

Yeah maybe people who were just born - that's the point. It's not possible nor is it reasonable and you have to jump around a bunch of hoops to "take" vehicles from someone at a minimum. Good luck telling everyone they can't drive anymore.

You think the truckers disrupted the economy? LOL

I love it how you people just think everyone will just roll over to the government and your green initiatives and give up their cars and access to roads. You're delusional.

You guys can feel free to have your dream circle jerk about taking everyones gas powered cars but its just that, a pipe dream.

    Peace.

Meh. Your typical histrionics aside, the far more likely mechanism is the continued growth of Uber and Lyft leading to lower numbers of households owning multiple cars, accelerating as autonomous cars are added to the fleet. Eventually, it won't make much sense to have a large piece of capital that mostly sits there.
