Stop paying attention to the facts and listen to Fox News! More jobs, lower gas prices and being able to negotiate drug prices are terrible for the consumer!
You sound desperate. Sorry the jobs number didn't go your way today, champ. There's always the inflation number that comes out in a week or 2. Maybe you'll get some good news then, but with gas prices continuing their downward trend, I wouldn't count on it.
ET, I understand you must be furious that Biden and America are having a good couple of weeks. But don't fret, I assure you that something bad will eventually happen and, whether or not it's Biden's fault, you'll have an opportunity to drop trou, cackle like a fiend and moon us all. Be patient, my friend, the sun will shine on you again.
But he was only able to do that because the last guy lost so many jobs, so really the last guy should get credit for the improvements in the economy?
COVID $ isnt just payments to individuals. Its more for Small Businesses and loan props to banks as part of the PPP and extensions granted on the last bill last year.
I know you are joking but we heard all through Obama's terms "The only reason his numbers look good is because he took office when the economy was at rock bottom" ... and that was apparently supposed to be some kind of endorsement of republicans.
So... you're saying businesses are now hiring people because the businesses' COVID money is drying up? Or workers are going back to work because businesses' COVID money is drying up? Hmm...
I get a kick out of partisan's opportunistic reactions to economic news. Good jobs report ... "INFLATION!" Bad jobs report ... "RECESSION!" Neutral jobs report ... "STAGNATION!" I, for one, am happy people are finding employment and that wages are increasing. I hope that these wage increases eventually outpace inflation.
Inflation is world wide because if supply issues. But, here, people are working. Even as the economy has shrunk. Not common on a time of inflation and an economy that shrunk. Some places are not so fortunate. The world is not laughing at the US. They are in worse shape than the US for reasons out of their control.
Businesses have different sizes and have different needs. Big business can absorb alot more issues than small businesses. Right now, certain big industries are hiring folks that have lost small business jobs. I have family that have closed Small businesses because profit was killed during covid for various reasons. They are now working a regular job and were hired recently. Here in Orlando alot of small restaurants have closed shops thanks to costs, employment and debt incurred during 2020-21. The issues are more complex than people realize. An unemployment number doesnt tell the full story.
There has been a migration of workers from small businesses to larger ones since COVID started. I'm just not sure I can attribute this month's jobs-created to COVID PPP exhaustion without more data. I did read that half of small businesses have openings. We'll see if there's a reversal of the migration.
The really wild part of that is we were already the OECD country with the highest rate of employees being at large businesses (the only one with more than half our employment taking place at large companies, and we were at 64%). As much as we fetishize small business, as a country we really make it hard for small businesses to thrive.
230 economists say deficit and inflation reduction bill will increase inflation: 230 Economists Warn the Manchin-Schumer 'Inflation Reduction Act' Will Actually... Increase Inflation – RedState Shocker, not.
What is that even supposed to mean? They are saying the WH estimates were bad because job growth far exceeded even their numbers. So the focus of the headline is on the missed estimate? Really? That is some epic political spin! LMAO.
