For those that defended Mullen’s recruiting all those 3 stars and said how the transfer portal would make up for it…an anonymous SEC coach says we have the fourth best talent in the east. Whether this is actually true, the perception is very telling. We could not continue to recruit like that and be successful.
Sure, but how much stock is in perception? After the bama game was that the perception? I’m not sure many Gator fans would say last year was a talent issue. An anonymous guy at media days also picked vandy to win the east.
Are we less talented than UGA absolutely. Are we less talented than UT or UK no. If the argument is that UK has a less talented but better constructed roster I could buy that. It’s funny that we have a less talented roster but we beat one team by 20 and it took 15 penalties and returned blocked FG to lose to the other one.
How can we make an argument that we are more talented than Kentucky when we are 2-2 in our last 4 games against them? I’d say it’s even at best.
Mullen's recruiting at Florida was certainly sub par but the player development was much worse. Most of the top recruits from the first two Mullen classes are no longer on the team or haven't panned out. I'm excited though to see what the new staff can do with the higher ranked recruits in the 2020 and 2021 classes that are still gators and haven't had the chance to shine yet.
We rank about 20 spots higher than them in recruiting just about every year except for last year when they actually finished a couple spots ahead of us. So we have years of much better recruiting. They have one year of comparable recruiting. Our roster definitely has more talent. We also lost to Georgia Southern several years back, but it wasn’t because their roster had more talent on it.
id say LSU has slightly better talent than us but not a significant advantage, same with A&M. Mullen dropped the ball with the 2021 class (the last class he made it to signing day with). Part of it was his inability to close and part of it was covid eliminating official visits. Def should of bagged Leonard Taylor and Brashard Smith from Miami Palmetto. Had Terrion Arnold in the fold and messed that up. The kids he brought in are super talented, but we missed on kids who’d be starting this season easily that went elsewhere
The only opinion from an "annoymous" coach that would matter is if it was one of our own saying we had the 4th best talent in the East. Everyone will talk us down because they know Florida has a lot to offer.
I suspect that "anonymous SEC coach" was someone from Mullin's staff badmouthing the team. Looking at the 2 deep I would think we would be 2nd or 3rd, the three deep is the problem.
The fourth best talent in the east, as in SEC East? If that's what the coach meant when he said that, that's not good. Three teams would be more talented than UF and that's just in the east.
we'll find out about coaching my perception was that bammer took the foot off the pedal after so easily going up big early and couldn't flip the switch back on
the heisman Winner, the sack leader, the sec champs, the number 2 team in the country, couldn’t flip the switch? What does that even mean? to me, that means the talent on Florida wouldn’t let them flip the switch.
