Hmmm . . . . read that last sentence carefully. Are ya sure you don't judge, esp. here on Too Hot? I'll readily admit that I'm one judgmental and self-righteous SOB.

I would rate this funny in a normal thread. But it is not as is your comments insinuate support for the ugliness we are witnessing from my perception. Or you might just want to pick something with me for some reason?

If you want to talk masking let’s do that on a masking thread.

This thread started to recognize a tragedy about a politician in a political forum and a few decided to show the worst of mankind on it.

You seem to have missed the point. You find something ugly here, but overlook you own contributions to provoking reactions from people you have disagreements with. The sanctimony is a bit much isn’t it?

    1. Seemed to me like one or two, not half a dozen. But, to be honest, I didn't count.
    2. The comparison to Too Hot of the past was hardly brought up as whataboutism. It was prompted by someone complaining that the board has gotten much uglier than it used to be. So people who were here then explained what it was like.

I believe the "mod" that people keep referring to was not a mod on Too Hot but worked on another forum. There were actually two mods like that, one liberal and one conservative and there were complaints about both of them posting on Too Hot.

There was one example brought about the Bush/Obama era being basically a free for all. It as about the time I was bounced out as a mod because Shab wanted free reign.

I already explained my position on the issue of celebrating deaths. You don't have to worry about my insinuations, I was quite up front about my position. I just thought it was funny given how much you rant about virtue signaling on the board that you went about doing it, apparently without realizing it (which is how you know it is a really good virtue signal).

It’s not ridiculous at all. In fact, people have wrestled with this for millennia. I am confident that God has morally sufficient reason for allowing evil to exist. Because I am not omniscient, I do not necessarily know what those reasons are.

The classical Christian view is that God created a world that would result in the maximum number of people being in a loving relationship with him. Perhaps for that to occur, there must be evil that exists.

If evil did not exist, there would also be good that does not exist. For example, altruism exists because somebody sees someone else in need and unselfishly helps that person. If nothing bad ever happened, there would be no heroes. There would be no one who rises above their circumstances or their abilities to help others. Do not get me wrong. I don’t wish for evil to happen so the others can rise above. I’m just pointing out that if it did not exist then we would not have most of the good.

I’m continually amazed at the numbers people who come to a deep faith in God and the Lord Jesus Christ in the midst of suffering. The church often grows strongest where it is persecuted. The underground church in China has grown tremendously despite the persecution on it from the communist government.

I know of people who in the midst of hardship have taken great solace in the book of Job.

The comment that you think belief in God and free will is the result of evolution might have an unintended consequence. It would mean that belief in God improves the survivability of the species. :)

    Little guilty conscience there?
Never mention you or anything any one poster said but you felt the need to ask if I disagree with you.
Like I said in my original post, this thread says a lot about a lot of posters humanity.

I didn’t ask if you disagreed with me, I asked why you disagreed with my assertion that both posts were unacceptable.

In most countries, the people in a failed coup attempt are tried and executed.

Outside of some not even involved in the coup who chose to resign from the executive branch after 1/6, did a single legislator even… resign? The people who voted yes affirmed the coup imo. Im not sure a single coup plotter in the executive or legislative branch did the right thing. Did anyone in leadership even ask? We know McCarthy did, for like a day, before he went back to lying his ass off for team politic. Hell, some of them fundraise off it! So not only did our system fail to administer Justice to the plotters (only going after the pawns up to this point), the crooked politicians profit off what happened. Some ludicrously raising money for the “political prisoners” that were arrested (aka the shortbus rubes who will never see a dime of that money).

Don’t preach to me about trials and what other countries do, I’m the one upthread who said justice for her would have been a trial. You’re the one celebrating her death because a reckless driver coming in the opposite direction was her judge and executioner, not me.

And while we are at it, are “other counties” our standard now?

You’ve established it to justify the death of a politician you don’t care for. That’s all.
