More global warming news: a volcanic eruption in Tonga in mid-January apparently released a record-setting amount of water vapor into the atmosphere, and this will contribute to global warming. Usually, a volcanic eruption cools the global climate for a few months or years when clouds of dust reduce and reflect the suns rays. In this case, the high heat capacity of the water vapor will absorb and store energy from sunlight. The water vapor was launched 8-33 miles into the atmosphere (mostly above the altitude of normal clouds), which means that we shouldn't expect it to return to earth as rain anytime soon. Tonga volcano blasted unprecedented amount of water into atmosphere If my calculations are correct, that's about 1.5 billion tons of water. One teragram is a trillion grams, or 10 billion kg, or 10 million metric tons, times 146 = 1.46 billion metric tons.
More global warming news: higher water temperatures in Florida mean that all sea turtles born in the state will be female. So, if any of the posters on this forum are male sea turtles (or identify as male sea turtles), move to Florida, because you are about to get lucky. Global heating means almost every sea turtle in Florida now born female
Not every place in the U.S. was originally covered in trees when industry gets their hands on it. For many places, the trees were removed in the 1800's for firewood for home heating and cooking. (I think it was Ben Franklin who complained toward the end of his life that he was having to get firewood brought in from a hundred miles away because there were no trees within that distance of Philadelphia.) Some places are just not well-suited for trees (they may be better suited for grasslands, for example). There is no reason that I can think of for a farm to re-plant trees when they finish using the land as a farm, especially if they are going to sell it to an energy company which will use it as a solar farm. Besides, farmers do not have the kind of wealth that major corporations have. (And in some cases, the corporations may be hiding something by putting trees on the land after they tear down their factory or backfill their mines.)
Texas would like to recommend that Alaska recheck their math: dividing 6 letters in half does NOT result in each half being bigger than 5 letters.
Global warming causing France nuclear plants to be less productive, among other things. French Nuclear Power Crisis Frustrates Europe’s Push to Quit Russian Energy But the industry has tumbled into an unprecedented power crisis as EDF confronts troubles ranging from the mysterious emergence of stress corrosion inside nuclear plants to a hotter climate that is making it harder to cool the aging reactors. Others are having to cut power production because of climate change concerns: Rivers in the south of France, including the Rhône and the Gironde, are warming earlier each year, often reaching temperatures in the spring and summer too warm to cool reactors.
Everyone knows what causes Global Warming. It is CO2, which each and every animal (including us humans) produces. Therefore, as long as animals are breathing, they must exhale. The solution? Halt animals from breathing. It is really quite simple. And while this is an attempt a snarky humor, there is some real basis of truth in it. Too many folks don't get what is transpiring. I call it "smart idiocy".
That depends on the font, doesn't it? Texans use a BIG FONT to help with their literacy issues. I think Alaskans are too busy trying to survive grizzly bear attacks at -44 F in the eternal darkness of winter to worry about reading and writing.
This can't possibly be correct because libs tell me that global cooling, global warming/climate change/crisis etc etc is 100% man made. : ).
Your post doesn’t make any sense from neither a scientific nor common sense perspective, nor is it humorous. It’s basically just a loud exclamation of “I don’t understand climate science and I’m proud of it!!”
Hark, here comes the, um, progressive wing of Too Hot! Or is it this guy? Not bad for 7:30pm on a Sunday! Oh, and so you don't think I come to Too Hot just for the applause (but you can if you want to) NOW I know who is in the building!
As to the old fart ranting about unreported news of Great Barrier Reef, here is a thread from earlier in the week Good News on Great Barrier Reef | Swamp Gas Forums Reported in lamestream media: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/08/04/great-barrier-reef-coral-recovery-climate-change/ Coral levels in some parts of the Great Barrier Reef are at the highest in 36 years Great Barrier Reef areas show the highest coral cover in 36 years
Not so fast. Alaska is rapidly losing land to a foul beast known as a beaver, due to global warming. Eleven thousand beavers have invaded the state and are damming up the state from one end to the other, making lakes everywhere. Good news if you like waterfront property, boating and fishing; bad news if you like mosquito-free summers and land transportation (or hiking). The changes are visible from space and have been compared in speed to a wildfire in changing the landscape. Will no one stop these monsters? The beavers will likely increase biodiversity in Alaska, but will also accelerate global warming. Photos from space show 11,000 beavers are wreaking havoc on the Alaskan tundra as savagely as wildfire Get your lakefront property now, people! Do not delay!
