Other than to ratchet up the hate and resentment already abundantly present on this forum, what has any of the ugly rhetoric on this thread accomplished? I would say not a damn thing.
Why are you saddened? Because other people don't live up to your expected level of virtue? Again, I don't celebrate death for my own reasons. But denying this thread is full of virtue signaling is a bit absurd. I mean, I am not opposed to virtue signaling (I actually think it is an effective tool for creating virtue, and I think most of the objection to virtue signaling isn't the signaling aspect as much as it is people who don't have the virtue objecting to the virtue itself). It is just fascinating to watch people who complain about it engage in it, without even realizing that they are doing it, apparently.
I actually do get sad when innocent people die, and auto wrecks are always disturbing to see. That isn’t “virtue signaling”, seeing innocent people die genuinely bothers me. But if I later found out the deceased was a child molester or criminal, I would manage turn that frown upside down. At the very least I would tend to shrug my shoulders as a non-loss. I reserve my sympathies for those who aren’t criminals. In this case, not technically a “criminal”, but a rotten politician. I rate a seditionist caucus member just barely above a serial killer as far having concern for what happens to them. That’s called brutal honesty, which is actually the direct opposite of virtue signaling (I guess its become just another word right wingers all started to parrot and misuse without knowing what it means).
So now the woman killed in a violent car crash deserves to be listed with terrorists? Man, you are quadrupling down. I'll give you that. The man who was the "operational brains" for 9/11 killing thousands of Americans is her equal? That's your position? Or are you saying he was a good guy because of all the future MAGAs in the WTC that day?
Its a word like “woke”, where conservatives are definitely and emphatically against it, and their media uses it so much you’d think the world has gone mad with a new religion called “wokism”. But if you ask them to actually define it… crickets. They can’t do it. Best you’ll get is memes or links to some crazed fake newz article.
Sure. Hitler, OBL, Ted Bundy. We dont celebrate a woman from Indiana that took a stupid political stand we disagree with.
People who ascribe self-congratulatory motives to people who call out injustices or wrongdoing rather than good faith, if that isn't you then its not about you
Yes, that was his point. Many on the right hate the notion of virtue signaling and then show up here and do it without even realizing it. This thread is an exercise in virtue signaling.
So, if celebrating someone's death is ok, then its all just in who you choose to celebrate. Why are we calling people out then? There is no objective ruling to determine who is a bad person you get to celebrate. If someone on the internet thinks this lady is an evil witch, let them celebrate.
it's like the old joke. man: will you screw me for 1 million dollars? W: yes man: will you screw me for $100? W: OMG, no, what kinda woman do you think I am? M: I know what kinda woman you are, now we're just negotiating over price.
But it was aimed at me. You said "everything isnt about" me, and I agree. That wasnt why I commented. I commented because the post was specifically at me.
You should reread that thread. Very little high fiving and the usual derail on to other things. Some were yes, but its not like the floodgate that some might have expected. It turned into some weird war on terror just or unjust thread.
