I'm always concerned about this exact scenario on these types of high-speed, non-divided two-lane state roads. All it takes is a tiny jerk of the wheel from someone coming in the opposite direction and you're looking at a combined 120+ mph impact that's almost certain to kill you, even in a relatively safe car.

I usually try to get all the way over to the right just in case, but that only does so much since the lanes aren't all that wide. Best to just avoid these types of roads, but of course that's not always possible.

RIP to the congresswoman and her aides. Only in their 20s. So terrible.

Even traitors deserve a trial. She was sentenced to death by a reckless driver in the opposite direction. The notion that it’s somehow meh or karma is completely absurd.

I hate two lane highways for this reason. Used to have to commute about 15 miles each way on one every day, saw a few close calls. Some nuts even do 75mph or 85mph on these type of roads. Looks like that one has a bit of a hill which might have made it blind or semi-blind curve.

Fortunately all the main roads around here are now divided 4 or 6 lane roads that feel a lot safer, but still has a share of bad accidents (mostly because people drive like reckless lunatics).

Well lowering yourself to that post is certainly one strategy. Not one most of us would have chosen, but hey. You do you.

Hypothetically If Vlad Putin had a stroke and died, your reaction would be… condolences to the family? “Thoughts and prayers”? Instead of… oh I don’t know… ABOUT DAMNED TIME”!?

I just want you know how far you take this holier than thou nonsense as far as choosing who deserves sympathy.

… and before you respond, no I’m not comparing this woman to Putin. She’s a nobody to me. I’d never heard her name before. I don’t know her limits as far as how evil she could be. But her actions of being on the “seditionist list” put her on the level of some random “loyal” member of the Russian State Duma or Chinese Communist Party, who I also would not give two shits about as humans other than to recognize them as enablers of evil regimes. At the very least the woman was a liar and enemy of democracy as we know it. What was her motive (what is ANY Trumpers motive)? I have no idea.

She had her alternative facts. I guess we can call this karma… or alternative justice. Unfortunately it’s not real justice. It is what it is.

Putin has killed God knows how many people. He is an evil world leader that os slaughtering Ukrainians in theaters.

This woman took took issue with an election.

    Celebrating her death is disgusting.

Karma would be her losing an election, not dying in a gruesome car crash.

“Took issue with an election”? Oh, is that all? The objections were based on 100% lies and right wing psychopathy.

What you fail to get, perhaps will never get until it hits you in the face, is that ending democracy and introducing authoritarianism brings death right to your door. Yes, there is a difference between Putin and this woman - in that Putin is the face of that particular evil regime. Putin calls the shots that leads to civilian casualties and mass suffering. But you understand even Putin has enablers, right? Millions of them. Is there a difference between someone like this and the people who spread Putin’s propaganda message on Russia state TV? How about Putin’s cronies in their sham legislative body? I say no difference. I put this woman more in line with those enablers. She went along with the big lie. So either she was extremely delusional, or she was corrupt. Those are the only options.

Not every authoritarian regime ends in genocide, but they are all doomed to fail. How many “successful” authoritarian regimes are there once they’ve backslid out of democracy? I’ll wait.

It’s BLING and War Tilly, did you truly expect anything more from them?

I’m sorry but I can’t feign fake outrage at what they are saying here. I’m not surprised at all at their posts. They both have shown these hateful colors here on Too Hot many times over. It’s who they are.

This is kind of what I was getting at when I said it seems problematic to equate an objection to electoral vote counts with the broader events of 1/6.

I wouldn’t dream of celebrating the death of Jim McGovern, Jamie Raskin, Pramila Jayapal, Raul Grijalva, Sheila Jackson Lee, Barbara Lee, or Maxine Waters. Yet they all also lodged completely baseless objections to an electoral vote count (2016 in each of those cases).

Team America vs. team Treason. Team Treason (1/6 participants and enablers) can all get rectal cancer as far as I’m concerned. Especially those who continue to lie Alex Jones style. I don’t usually put things in terms of “enemies” or “combat” in politics, as I view it as dangerous rhetoric. I don’t want to be a hypocrite either, as I was highly critical of Trump for using inflammatory language in ‘15-16 (indeed that’s how those yah00’s on 1/6 ended up there in ‘20, warping their minds with years of propaganda and lies from Trump and right wing media).

Nevertheless, after 1/6 it’s pretty obvious these people actually are enemies to American democracy.

Sad she died But I’ll admit my second thought after “how terrible an accident” was “how crazy of a Republican was she” (not that I wish harm to those with different nonviolent beliefs)

    Gross generalize much? SMDH

A simple replacement demonstrates how fallacious your statement is.

"Liberals Gator fans on a roll. I saw another thread where someone wished death upon someone and now we have one saying "good riddance" 3 people that probably had a family and a life outside of politics."

I assume, as a fellow Gator fan, you have to agree that War's comment reflects your view as well, right?

You basically undermined your own argument. Because objections to the electoral vote counts were very much part of the broader events of January 6. That’s beyond reasonable dispute at this point. They were just different spokes of the same attempt to overthrow the United States.

That in no sense justifies her death. But you can’t make that distinction. She was playing her part, no less than those that stormed the Capitol.

You cannot in any way support or defend anything associated with Trump’s efforts to retain power and claim that you are a loyal American.

Somehow they attempt to do just that every day on here. No one is openly wishing death on these people, but if/when they do happen to experience an untimely demise, these folks expect others to just ignore the lowlife nonsense they were affiliated with.

The comment about Till, while wrong in my opinion, stopped well short of celebrating his death.

In this thread we had a poster openly celebrate the death of someone while 3 others dies along with her.

Your attempt to equate the two falls well short.

We literally have someone celebrating their death here. That is far different than simply not ignoring "the lowlife nonsense they were affiliated with."

    It's disgusting.
