I've received the Epoch times in my mailbox unsolicited, they give it away for free because its funded by a Chinese religious movement lol. Its junk mail. If anyone is paying for it, they are the biggest rubes of all.

Gender dysphoria is 100% a mental illness. We used to treat it as such. Now it’s political football.

It was and still is, but you are against the clinical treatment of the mental illness though, that's what 'gender affirming care' is. I think it's sick to say something is a mental illness, but then deny people treatment for it. That's simply cruel.

 

The treatment should be should be limited to counseling and not puberty blockers and cutting off organs.

 

That's mostly what gender affirming care is, counseling and 'social' transitioning

Although there are extremely rare exceptions "cutting off organs" is virtually never prescribed much less carried out for children/teens under the age of 18 and although there is some disagreement puberty blockers are generally considered safe and their effects are reversible. They have prescribed for decades as a treatment for precious puberty a condition in which children beginning go through puberty years before they normal would be experiencing puberty. In any event the appropriate medical care should be determined by the patient, his or her parents and the medical professionals who are responsible for treatment. Politicians with little or no medical background should not be inserting themselves into the doctor/patient relationship.

What is a Chinese religious movement? Would you prefer the CCP to fund it?

 

Epoch times is funded by Falun Gong, which was once supported by the CCP but then suppressed by it. I don't know about you, but I'd prefer my trusted news sources not be funded by any foreign religious movements or governments.

 

Fun note: Falun Gong (the Chinese movement behind Epoch Times) was heavily promoted by CCP initially because it was viewed as improving worker health.

 

Cutting off organs is something that is considered permanent. Nothing permanent happens to children with gender dysmorphia. It's not allowed until a person hits 18.

Puberty blockers are reversible. Simply stop taking the blockers, and puberty will happen. Blockers are also only prescribed when a patient meets criteria. This includes several years as identifying as the opposite gender and living life this way. The blockers are generally prescribed for pre-teens, who again, have been living life as the opposite gender, and are used so they can continue to do so without undergoing puberty, which would complicate this. Since puberty blockers have been prescribed, the number of gender dysmorphia suicides for young teens has dropped. And again, the effects of the blockers can be reversed.

Any medical professional who sees the data on puberty blockers lowers the risk of suicide and still does not advocate for their use is being political. First, do no harm should be the guiding principle for all medicine, and something that lowers suicide attempts fits this criteria.

just a quick search shows that 15 yo’s can get it done at this hospital. These physicians are sick pieces of garbage that mutilate children. If an adult wants to make a decision like that so be it.

 

The link says the procedure is for 18+ or 15+ with parents involvement. The problem is ??? You want big govt to get involved when doctor, parents, patient are all in agreement?
