each and every church that hosted him and allowed him to campaign in the church should have their tax exempt status repealed yesterday. At some point, the law separating church and state needs to have teeth

Those churches have immense local political power and are very active politically. Has happened for years. I was going to try to describe the influence and then figured I would Google it and that someone would've written up before, sure enough, there is a nine-year-old article. Very, very politically active Church. Many congregation members appointed all over. Bell Shoals also, though to a much lesser extent than Idlewilde

This is beautifully stated but your reasonable and biblical attitude is being used by the anti woman wing of the republicans. Every vote for a republican is a vote against personhood for all women.

Lets be honest here. Many people are for some women, the ones that are convenient for them to define as persons. The women many have excluded as persons have enemies as deadly as the World War II Germans trying to exterminate them. You are not for them.

Unfortunately, the Florida Democratic Party remains incompetent. There's no reason these Republican "judges" should be getting reelected in blue cities.

Judicial elections are county wide and are technically nonpartisan. The judges are originally appointed by the Governor’s office and this Governor has taken partisanship to new heights in appointments.

While they're technically nonpartisan, the party could put significant effort into recruiting candidates and educating voters on which candidates to choose. It doesn't. We shouldn't have FedSoc judges winning reelection in Democratic strongholds.

We’re trying, man. They have a 40 year head start. Focusing on federal appointments right now.

But remember, he drew an opponent, which is what gave rise to this. Not an accident.

Respectfully, Tampa, we need to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. I'm glad he drew opponents. I'm seeing that more in other cities too with Scott and DeSantis appointees. But the party apparatus needs to be there to support the candidates who run. Many aspects progress begin with these local races.

I take no offense but that is nothing that those in the trenches are unaware of. I will just say that plenty of effort given resources is occurring.

They'd have to overrule the parliamentarian. That account is ignoring that Collins and Murkowski almost certainly won't support that.

Georgia residents can now claim embryos as dependents on state taxes

Georgia residents can now claim embryos as dependents on their state taxes, the state's revenue department announced Monday.

"In light of the June 24, 2022, U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and the July 20, 2022, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in Sistersong v. Kemp, the Department will recognize any unborn child with a detectable human heartbeat ... as eligible for the Georgia individual income tax dependent exemption," the department said in a statement.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last month that "Georgia’s prohibition on abortions after detectable human heartbeat is rational."

The state's Living Infants and Fairness Equality (LIFE) Act "defines a 'natural person' as 'any human being including an un-born child,'" the court ruled.

Raising an interesting question with which I have alluded in several other posts, some of which were intended to be facetious, would that apply to frozen embryos stored in cryogenic containers? Seems that it would if the statute is construed literally.
Edit: Apparently it would not apply to frozen embryos since the statute requires a detectable heartbeat raising another question, would the taxpayer have to prove that a fetus has a detectable heartbeat since pregnancy is usually confirmed before the fetus has a detectable heartbeat.

Jesus would have been pro-choice in today’s world. The right wing extremists would hate him.

I want to know if they need to refund the state if they have a miscarriage.

Also, kind of wild this is coming from the people who point to welfare propping up single mothers as one of the major issues in our country.

Also, can pregnant women get life insurance policies on their unborn children?
