Jersey City councilwoman refuses to resign despite slamming cyclist in hit-and-run accident

That wasn't lane splitting. Not even close. He was in the far half of the oncoming lane over a double yellow. He was obviously looking to jump the light ahead of traffic and was intending to coast through the intersection. Lucky on the green light. Look where he was when it turned green.

Her actions qualify as a automatic resignation event. She has to go immediately. Next story!

 

Maybe she was aware of her registration issues and didn't want to get hung up with that at the time. Not too smart on her part.

 

Time for the "whataboutism" response. While I agree that she should resign, this guy had to be removed from office and what he did was far more egregious than DeGise's hit and run considering that the victim was killed and he also probably guilty of a DUI.

I was wondering that too ... drunk or texting, is my guess... since she doesn't even appear to tap the breaks. Even though the accident appears to be unavoidable for the driver, I'm pretty sure anyone paying attention would have come to a screeching halt just based on reflexes.
