I was just coming to post. 2023 Defensive back Aaron Gates, out of Trinity Christian School in Sharpsburg, Georgia. Gates’ recruitment has blown up recently, with Florida, Michigan and Miami offering him since June. Gates, 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, isn’t ranked on any of the three major recruiting services, but the Gators thought highly enough of him to let him join Mac Markway and Raymond Cottrell in the 2023 class. He caught 27 passes for 434 yards and three touchdowns last season and added 31 tackles and five interceptions on defense. He is expected to play defensive back in college. Gates is close with Chief Borders.
Also offered by LSU so the talent is there. I like that the first thing on his HUDL highlight is 3.4 GPA.
I said it before on here and will say it again. He may not play at the highest level of high school football, but he is so athletic and so smooth. He sets up his runs so well. He could be really versatile. His highlights are fun to watch.
Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, and Tennessee also offered. He attended FNL, wants to be a Gator, and the coaches like/want him. There is nothing not to like. Eventually, the recruiting sites will catch up with what is already happening in real time. Then again, I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening either.
Michigan was giving him something to think about but he said he's solid Gates says he’s solid with the Florida Gators following his FNL visit | GatorCountry.com
Respect to the young man, he was our first commit in this class and even stayed over thru the coaching change.
Not going to lie I do not like seeing long committed recruits pop up on the top with new info. Makes me think they flipped. Glad to see Gates is solid. I think his versatility and athleticism is going to be huge for the UF football team.
New favorite recruit. From georgia. Committed to previous staff, but stayed. Must really want to be a Gator. Plays offense and defense.
