As i stated in another thread, this is a good example of why folks on the left and right need to be chastised and run out of the public square. Its inflating for votes and $.

Always remember, the Democratic Party is the Party of the Confederacy and Secession, the Party of Jim Crow, the Party of the Ku Klux Klan, the Party of Margaret Sanger, the Party that voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Party of noted Segregationist Joe Biden.

The Republican Party is the Party of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King.

Difference is that the Democratic Party recognized the error of its ways, championed the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act, and then watched the Republican Party court the angry segregationists. Unsurprisingly, those racist Southern conservatives who claim the Confederacy as their "heritage" vote Republican today. That's why around 90% of Black voters typically back the Democratic candidate in Presidential elections. Y'all decided you preferred being the party of Strom Thurmond to the party of Lincoln.

P.S. MLK voted for LBJ, and Martin Luther King III has said it's "outrageous to suggest that [his dad] would support the Republican Party of today."

That stems from Trumps comment during a speech.
"Hey... look at my African American.”
    Donald J. Trump.

Actually, Democrats voted in favor of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

As far as the rest, yes. Conservative Democrats were on the wrong side of civil rights. Conservative Republicans too

She's obviously mistaken, and he's projecting what the Dems have been doing since the 50's.

We also need to fix the tax system that punishes married couples. Married couples filing jointly should get a better tax return than two people cohabitanting with kids but that are not married.

More kids with dads is a big plus for all children... Who on the Dems side wants to fix that tax law?

Do you view monuments to the Confederacy as a bad thing? Almost all the times I see people arguing about them it's Republicans/conservatives who are mad about them being taken down. Why do you think Republicans are the ones typically defending monuments that Democrats previously put up?

Come on. I don't think this is a matter of Republicans being upset because a black man has an opinion that they don't think he should be able to.
I think it's just the same old game of gotcha. "Look, someone on the other side said something outrageous and that proves they're all like that!"

The Republican Party was the Party of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King and, in fact, King became a Democrat. The Republican Party of 2022 is the new Dixiecrat Party. Today's Republican Party is the Party of Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms and Donald Trump. Republicans voted overwhelmingly in favor of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Today's Republicans will not even let Voting Rights legislation come to the floor of the Senate for a vote.
Voting rights bill blocked by Republican filibuster
Senate Republicans block voting rights bills, join with two Democrats to prevent filibuster change

Voting Rights Act of 1965 - Wikipedia

I would also add that it's almost certain that you know know better and are just trolling. If that's not the case and you really believe your post, you are one truly deluded individual not unlike the former president.

I agree. It is outrageous to say Republicans want blacks who lack independent thought. They are colorblind in their acceptance of sycophants.

I don't know why the right always invokes Martin Luther King's name, knowing damn well if he was alive today the MAGA clan would be jeering at his message and calling him a woke social justice warrior.
