I don't know if that's more deflection or an attempt at humor. In any case, I said I'm done.

You said it didn’t look like aliens shooting so curious what they look like. Surprised you haven’t said a thing yet about the missile into the pentagon

My point was what it looked like, not what it didn't look like. Sorry if that wasn't too clear.

I said I'm done on 9/11. But I do have to note that I received no "common sense" replies at all on the checked-out behavior of Bush, Rumsfeld, Myers, and Wolfowitz, those dedicated defenders of our nation, during the 9/11 attacks. Surely there is a "common sense" explanation for their group dereliction of duty. Oh, well.

By all that is sacred and holy, I hope this is at long last true. Pulling your string on this issue is just one more thing Trump has done to make me wish him extremely unkind thoughts.

Oh but I enjoy pulling your string. I knew that you would come running. I'll wait another few years and then pull it again.

Well, fair enough. But then it’s also fair to keep having fun at your expense for your mockworthy position(s) on the issue. So pull away.

I see you've had no comment on my "mockworthy position" on Bush, Rumsfeld, Myers, and Wolfowitz in their 9/11 hideaways. Is that one too tough for you? Ha ha ha ha.

Nope. But since you’re “done,” no point discussing it.

Okay, I'll bring it up again in, say, 2026. Gives you time to think about it.

For clarification - The OKC federal building was the Alfred P Murrah Federal Building, named after a judge from Oklahoma. Alfred P. Murrah - Wikipedia

Edward R. Murrow, a 3 pack a day smoker, was a well respected CBS reporter who died in 1965 from lung cancer.

My mistake lol. I struggled to even remember murrow/Murrah to begin with and probably should have stuck with referencing the Oklahoma city bombing instead.

Murrow's TV program "See It Now" covered controversial subjects and helped to bring down Joe McCarthy. As I recall (it's been a few years) Murrow on his program always had a cigarette in his hand. He would end each broadcast with his signature phrase "Goodnight and good luck." His own luck eventually ran out (or went up in smoke).

If Murrow had been alive and broadcasting on 9/11, I'm sure he would have said, "That looks like controlled demolition."

I honestly feel dubya got a bad rap for his initial response in Sarasota that day. Literally nothing he could do in those first few moments. He remained calm. Headed to the airport and then shot AF1 skyward.

My issues with GWB were not early on in the saga. He lost me later on. (I was a big Dubya supporter until the wars grew)

He was told not to respond. After his chief of staff whispered to him that "America is under attack," and the pet goat story continued, his press secretary Ari Fleischer held up a sign for him to read: "Don't say anything yet." And instead of taking him immediately to the airport, his handlers kept him there at that school, potentially endangering the lives of all the students and teachers, because he was in a known location during the attacks. It's possible, of course, that his handlers somehow knew there wasn't any danger in keeping him there. (One officer in charge of his security said "We're out of here" right away. That officer was ignored.)

It's Rumsfeld, Myers, and Wolfowitz who have no excuse (other than possible guilty knowledge) for their in-your-face dereliction of duty. I'll also mention that the officer in charge of the Pentagon's Military Command Center had arranged to take that morning off, leaving the center in the hands of a greenhorn. After the attacks, the officer in charge showed up and later took credit for being there the whole time. And speaking of the military, it lied so much to the 9/11 Commission that the commission considered filing perjury charges. The commission chickened out and left any punishment to the military services. Ha ha ha ha. Myers got promoted to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

Heres the thing. All planes and airspace were in danger. The FAA had to get all the planes on the ground in order to guarantee the safety of AF1 not to mention check the surroundings for anti aricraft weapons, clearing roads ...and actually get to the airport.

Even with all that, he was in the air 50 minutes after getting the whisper in the air.

I honestly think thats pretty good under the circumstances.

Except that they could have waited at AF1 for the skies to clear, instead of waiting in a schoolhouse full of kids. In any case, Bush had an excuse. The others at the top of our nation's defense had none. And they were shameless about it.

I do wanna be clear. I dont disagree that breakdowns happened and the Chaney's of the world make my skin crawl.

I just always the GWB and the Secret Service got undue criticism. Sitting in the open on a tarmac is pretty dangerous. Once he got on AF1 it needed to get up... High... And fast.

My assumption has always been that 911 was no inside gig, but warhawks gotta warhawk and they jumped at the opportunity.

Wolfowitz and company were definitely war mongers and mistakes were made whether willfully or otherwise. The conspiracies beyond whether information of the attacks were known, disregarded or both are silly. That's all. I don't think the Cheneys, wolfowitzes and rumsfelds of the world are some altruistic pacifists or anything.

They wouldn't have to sit on the tarmac. They could drive around the Sarasota area in the limo (how are terrorists going to zero in on them that way?) till time to get to the plane. It just bothers me that they sat in a schoolhouse full of kids, watching TV like Donald Trump on 1/6.

There was in fact a possible assassination attempt against Bush that day. I don't remember all the details, but some guys showed up where they thought he was at (maybe at the place where he had stayed overnight in Sarasota, if he did, I don't remember), they claimed they were there for an interview, though no interview was on Bush's schedule. These guys disappeared before anything could be learned about them, other than the fact that if they were assassins they were pretty amateurish. But it would not have been an unheard of scenario. I recall that a political figure in Afghanistan got assassinated during an "interview."
