Pfffftt. Complete nonsense. Show me a study, survey, or poll, that backs that statement up. It's rubbish. I don't believe it for one second. The teams getting the best players and winning natty's don't play in an off campus stadium with 15k fans present, now do they? I think these kids want to be noticed, and want the excitement of a big game .Many of the kids like college traditions, and all the pomp that goes along with it. We can offer that, and we did when we had coaches that could recruit. We just have had a series of bad recruiters. Miami is just cheating with NIL now. It won't last long.
Sure they would like all that AND they want the money. Given roughly equal funding opportunities, most will pick the team with the best winning atmosphere. Given the crummy performance of UM in almost every category vs. a team like Alabama for the last 15 years or so, the only explanation of why UM is recruiting on par with Alabama has to be about money.
Money. Student section keeps getting smaller. Student season tickets are $175, everyone else $380 PLUS minimum one time per season donations per section ranging from $150-$3000 or so. That's how the UAA gets close to $4M only in ticket sales per game and why they want cupcakes that don't require a return game and instead give us a 7th home game every season (while paying the visiting team like 500k).
Seems Miami only pays attention to what we do to try and one-up us. I bet they're throwing a few extra bucks for them to visit this weekend and announce it today, like MPemba announcing while in Gville that he'll be at Miami tomorrow. I'd throw him out of FNL, but maybe I'm exaggerating lol Pretty funny though, must make them mad we're competing just fine spending 3 times less than them.
Tend to agree that gladiators want a full house. Cristobal is billed as a can’t miss coach. They have good assistants and recruiters. They gloss over facilities and attendance. Unfortunately their easy schedule might make them look like a te as m on the Todd and that perpetuates the myth.
I think Miami is the sole exception. Can't think of another program as competitive on the recruiting trail with such poor home-game attendance.
I think some here are underestimating the lure of Miami to an 18 yr old with some coin . Not every kid wants to live in a small college town Also Cristobal is a damn good recruiter. The only question is he a good enough game day coach to sustain a winning program.
So that matters, but playing in front of only 10,000 fans in a stadium 20 miles from campus doesn’t? Nah, to those scUM commits its all about the money. I look forward to that band of mercenaries having a very mediocre season. There’s still a ‘team’ element to this game
Of course. When top recruits pick UF it's because they really want to be Gators, our rich tradition, great young head coach etc. Everything is on the up and up. When they pick Bama, Miami, UGA etc its only because they cheat. Sports fans are delusional LOL
Exactly. Guarantee recruits wouldn't be flocking to Nebraska if they had Miami's attendance and Ruiz money. Sure money is a huge driving force but so Is the city of Miami and the image they want to re-establish.
