Pathetically too little and too late:

DHS to Address Life, Safety, and Operational Requirements in the U.S. Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector | Homeland Security

As Mick would say, Oh My! This has got to be galling the left-wing zealots in the White House. LOL!

    Release Date: July 28, 2022

WASHINGTON – Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas has authorized U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to execute the Yuma Morelos Dam Project to close four gaps located within an incomplete border barrier project near the Morelos Dam in the U.S. Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector. These projects address operational impacts, as well as immediate life and safety risks, and will be funded with DHS’s Fiscal Year 2021 appropriations.

Even democrats are tired of Joe Biden's border crisis:

Even Democrats Are Tired of Biden's Border Crisis (townhall.com)

More to the point, they know they are getting their butts handed to them in November, so they are trying a last-minute Hail Mary!

The Biden administration has given the green light to pick up building a section of former President Trump's border wall as illegal immigration sees no point in slowing down.

President Joe Biden's Department of Homeland Security finally caved and agreed to close the border barrier gaps in Arizona that pose many security challenges for Border patrol.

"After many months of pushing," Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz) announced the first step to fixing the crisis at the southern border along his state lines has been secured.

I’ve never had an issue having a wall - where it made sense. In many places it doesn’t, due to property ownership issues, geographic issues or ecological issues.

They already lost the Mexican/American votes in Texas... Maybe even across the other south western states too.

Like you said, too little too late.

The only people who believe the democrats want open borders are right wing ignorant fanboys who do not read. If they did they would find out that the democrats support barriers in places that make sense but acknowledge that almost all drug trafficking comes through legal ports of entry which require upgraded technology and infrastructure and most illegal immigrants come from overstayed visas. While the majority of smuggling attempts happen in the ports of entry, the biggest loads of drugs enter San Diego through tunnels. The ones equipped with rails can carry packages as big as 35 tons. Smuggling in the ocean has evolved from Jets Skis dropping off packages on deserted beaches near San Diego to multiday expeditions taking ships 150 miles west into the ocean and as far north as San Francisco.

A wall is an icon to uselessness. There are many investments that need to occur in border security which democrats support.

Drug smuggling, and the endless battle to stop it

    Bidens immigration bill
Fact Sheet: President Biden Sends Immigration Bill to Congress as Part of His Commitment to Modernize our Immigration System | The White House
    • Supplement existing border resources with technology and infrastructure. The legislation builds on record budget allocations for immigration enforcement by authorizing additional funding for the Secretary of DHS to develop and implement a plan to deploy technology to expedite screening and enhance the ability to identify narcotics and other contraband at every land, air, and sea port of entry. This includes high-throughput scanning technologies to ensure that all commercial and passenger vehicles and freight rail traffic entering the United States at land ports of entry and rail-border crossings along the border undergo pre-primary scanning. It also authorizes and provides funding for plans to improve infrastructure at ports of entry to enhance the ability to process asylum seekers and detect, interdict, disrupt and prevent narcotics from entering the United States. It authorizes the DHS Secretary to develop and implement a strategy to manage and secure the southern border between ports of entry that focuses on flexible solutions and technologies that expand the ability to detect illicit activity, evaluate the effectiveness of border security operations, and be easily relocated and broken out by Border Patrol Sector. To protect privacy, the DHS Inspector General is authorized to conduct oversight to ensure that employed technology effectively serves legitimate agency purposes.

I'd only disagree to say that's what eminent domain is for. I'd keep it to geographical issues only, where there are natural barriers like rivers and mountains. Even at that those locations must be monitored.

The other issue that people don't talk about is illegal drugs. There has been a spike annually from the upper 30,000s to the lower 40,000s in deaths due to fentanyl. The trend in deaths is still rising. The trend must be stopped and reversed.

Wherever the smugglers want to. We haven't enforced the border and the border patrol is swamped with illegal aliens to the point that nothing can get done.

You should do some research if you don't know.

Most of it crosses the border in shipping containers and vehicles. Shipping containers and vehicles don't travel hundreds of miles into the wilderness to find a place with no wall to cross the border.

The cartels (Sinaloa and New Generation Jalisco) are the largest sources into the US. It is unlikely that they are moving that much weight via coyotes and illicit border crossings. Meanwhile, China direct into the US, or China to Canada to the US are the next largest paths and no stupid arse wall is going to stop any of that.

Really?? And you know this because you were part of the DEA/Homeland task forces that monitor our borders (via technology including Predators dating back to the early 2000's) and were re-assigned to migrant worker processing?

Funny in 2016-2020 just the mention of a wall would draw negative comments from every democrat poster on this site. I can't recall anybody making such statements during those years.

And the only people who think Biden has done a good job with border control are left wing fan boys who have no clue. I completely agree that most Democrats don’t want open borders either but the end result is that with the record influx of migrants at the southern border, Biden’s immigration policies have been a disaster.

Those who were against the wall before they are now for the wall realize it takes an all of the above approach to immigration. The Biden Administration could learn from this by transferring the idea to their energy policies.

Most democrats were also hoping the SCOTUS would rule to keep Title 42 Remain in Mexico in place, but SCOTUS couldn't bail them out on that one. Prediction: the democrats will resurrect Remain in Mexico and likely BEFORE the midterm elections.

What the heck do we need the Biden Administration for? We just need Mr. Mean Tweets back. It'll drive the snowflakes crazy, but so are these other bowing to Trump actions to save their political rear ends.

As I said if you had bothered to read it, the border patrol is stretched too thin to do anything right solely due to the Biden Administration poor and failing immigration policies.

This coming from the administration that refuses to visit the border. Border Czar Kamala Harris is doing a fantastic job.

They don't know how to not trip over their own feet. Just lift all of Biden's restrictions on the border patrol and ICE would do wonders. Yes, finish the wall and send a thank you card to President Trump.

Hey Sherlock, tell me why Biden is using DHS funding to build the wall. Trump had the money set aside from the DOD budget. Since Biden didn't finish the wall, the money should still be there. Right? I think we need an audit to see where money is now. It shouldn't be too hard to locate and account for a few billion dollars. I'm sitting here thinking the money has found its way into other democrat woke initiatives/blue states without approval or oversight or into the hands of the Biden Crime Family.

And, again, I am asking what is the source of your insight? Are you in immigration? Are you involved in drug interdiction? We used to have a poster here many years ago who was in federal law enforcement and spoke pretty authoritatively on "Fast and Furious".

    What is your connection??

LOL! Go dig up the law enforcement guy or did you run him off. I'd say it is the latter.

You are good with questions. Do you ever say anything?
