The money issue is not a Miami problem , it’s a UF problem

It’s not the same old but it has the same results.

Missing on our top recruits has nothing to do with the staff in my opinion but the results are still the same.

Depends on if you want your university to attempt to do it the right way, or just take a win at all costs approach

It’s a little early to say that I think. We might not be at urban levels yet, but we could easily be ahead of mac/Mullen levels. And we still haven’t played a game yet.

So far, it looks like the exact same recruiting we’ve had for the last 10 years. Solid somewhere around 10 or 15 and we get a few five stars here there.

I think with CBN we have become more than just another hat on the table. I believe we are a legitimate choice for a lot of these kids.

But recruiting prowess only goes so far, look no further than John Walker and the multiple CB's he got for UCF. Obviously theres more to his story than some good recruiter$$

If you look at the last 10-12 years, which did include a few gems here and there, and some good to very classes (albeit terribly unbalanced in several instances), it's hard to argue that we are leaps and bounds ahead of where we were over that stretch of time. But zeroing in on the Moon Mullenz era, I'm not seeing the multiple non-qualifiers who never had a chance to get in who were added for the sole purpose of padding the numbers. I'm also not seeing a front-loaded heap of 1000-800 ranked, low three-star types that would have been in the fold by now under DM and Mac. And I'm definitely not seeing the "character issue" types that were a significant problem when Urban "broke" the program due to a win at all costs approach to recruiting. Now TBH, I have no idea if things will go swimmingly this weekend or that all the handwringing and gnashing of teeth will look a tad pre-mature in a few days. But it very well may, so I'll wait a bit to reserve my seat on ledge - at least for now.

PS: I hate the NIL era and the effects it's had on CFB as much as the next guy. I'm just not ready to take up a life of crime just because scUM, ATM and a handful of others have taken to it like a fish to water. If we have to "settle" for a class of high character, four-star recruits (with a few diamonds in the rough and perhaps a five-star here and there), I can live with that. More importantly, I'll be able to live with myself.

@Skink you are stuck in the 90’s . Wake the hell up! I know you are a smart guy but naive as hell of what is going on .

Gotta disagree big time here Wing. The runaway ‘pay for play’ race we’re seeing right now is not sustainable. It’s absurd to be committing million$ to 17 and 18 year olds who haven’t even suited up for your university. I think UF is on the high road and love it. I’m willing to wait and see how Napier does while this shitstorm of silliness plays out. It’s the long game my friend and we’re in good hands.

And there will be college football after this season too. What’s the point in blowing your engine trying to lead the first 10 laps of a 200 lap race?

I feel the same way as you but can we call it like it is ? Pay for play is in . We are going to lose a lot of recruiting battles . We need to face that . Just the way it is . UF is not gonna play that game. Our fans can’t be shocked when we lose on these kids that go the other way. I don’t have a lot of years left and I don’t think I will ever see a Natty again in football or bkball

We both know what’s going on. The difference between us is you think this is a sustainable system going forward — while I see this as a transient overreaction to NIL which is not sustainable and does not represent the future. And if this really is the future then I won’t be nearly as invested in college football going forward. The very things that made college football my favorite sport will all be gone.
