You make a good point. But Jean does have decent size and a good catch radius and high-pointing ability - with "average" speed according to On.3. Frankly, there's not much in the way of scouting info for Patterson, but he is ranked much lower than Jean across the board. Jeans offer list is vastly more impressive though, one way or the other. Of course, this is all speculation at this point, but the tight roster numbers are going to dictate a lot of things regarding who sticks and who doesn't.

I am projecting a bit, admittedly. But unless there is some sort of seismic shift in numbers between now and then, we're still likely to be in a bind numbers-wise when the '23 recruits do come on board. And we are absolutely, positively in a very tight spot in the here and now. My primary point though was that I expect the staff to be extremely selective moving forward - both with whom they retain on the current roster - and with whomever they bring in for '23. How much room they will be able to make for skill position players ranked 150 or worse at their respective positions, or 800+ overall, remains to be seen. JMHO.

If things hold true, we'll be knocking on the door of a top 10 class. If we land McClain, I think it's safe to say we'll probably end up in the top 10 but if things go haywire on the field, then things get uncertain

 

You're probably right. Just now remembering the chatter about Patterson when he first committed, small off-radar program, great length, route running and hands but questions about speed. There was speculation then that once his season started we could see something special and his stock would go up. I don't have a problem with adding Mizell, Jean and Sorey while keeping Patterson.

 

Plus Tyree Patterson sounds so much more like a WR Name. Lol

 

Yea I was kind of "put off" by T Patt because i'll admit, I didn't watch film and went off his ranking but when I watched his film, I was like "it's not bad at all".

As far as Jean goes, he's dipping back to Miami's cookout on Saturday so we shouldn't pencil him in to our mocks yet/anymore. It would be nice to lock him down this weekend and have him skip the cookout in Miami but I would be shocked if that happened.

 

Welp, guess it's all on S. Snell's shoulders now. Let's hope he whips up a BBQ so good it makes them wanna slap their mommas.... or at least commit.

Why is Rivals always so low? Lower than the others

 

Look at who rating services are aligned with. Look at how rankings go up or down when leaning or committed to certain programs. Look at subscriber base and who is paying their bills each month. Look at who is aligned to certain summer camps. If you attend the camp, your rating goes up. Corrupt business. Would like a service that strictly ranks after 3-4 years to see services that get it right and those that are financially motivated or aligned to certain programs.

 

Just imagine how much Mizell will move the needle.

They're lower but probably more legit than On3 or espn. IMO, a composite of 247 and Rivals' rankings would be the closest to reality.

 

All of the services are financially motivated...they are businesses. Its not surprising that they lean toward where their bread is buttered.
