What for? It's clear where his allegiance lié. JMHO, UF coaches should channel all their attention and energy to recruits who has not committed yet like Cormani and Maizell. Try to get UF's NIL group to ante up.
Good then. Miami players can continue to enjoy playing on lousy teams that end up missing bowl games (which Miami has done in 2021) or better yet playing on lesser tier bowl games: Cheez-it bowl (Miami lost in 2020) Pin-Stripe Bowl (Miami lost in 2018) Russel-Athletic Bowl (Miami won in 2016 under Richt) Oh yeah, Miami has lost 10 out of their last 11 bowl games! What a sorry-loser program! If there was ever an expansion of the SEC conference, Miami would be the last program to be invited: who wants a conference team that plays in empty stadiums and can't win the bigger games (Miami lost to FSU btw) and loses bowl games!
Who cares but the fans. Miami can put you into the NFL. MC had a .729 winning % at Oregon, if he can equal or better that at UM plus NIL money. He and the players will be just fine.
Should Miami be invited to join the SEC? Mad Dog's (at 3:50 mark) rant/take on Miami was hillarious! "Did you miss the Utah-Oregon games last year? When Oregon was waxed both times by Utah! Their(Cristobaul's) athletes did not show up for those games!" btw, losses: 7-38 (at Utah), 10-38 (lost PAC championship) "We are now going to make Cristobaul as the second coming of Howard Schelenberg? when he got players like Kelly, Kosar, Testeverde to Coral Gables?" lol! "Cristobaul has never done anything in his career, let's not make him out to be such a big deal; he is just only from Miami" "We all thought that Diaz was the next big thing at Miami, that did not work out either!" "Miami has got a major problem down there (to be considered as a future SEC school)" "First of all, Miami is a terrible sports town" "Miami's stadium is so far away from their campus to their students" "Miami's fans are not going to games against lowsy teams; at most they will only go to a couple of games a year" "The days of Miami's preiminence on a week to week basis, that is long, long gone!" "Is Florida going to want Miami in their conference?" {Nah! UF people would have to consider FSU(an instate univ.) first before even considering Miami(a private school with no ties to UF) } "So, the idea of a coach going down to South Florida and do/did what Schellenberger had done to turn that program completely around,... those Miami hey-days are long, long gone!" "Before, On Miami's schedule, they used to play Notre Dame, Florida & Florida State every year!" "(Today) Notre Dame doesn't want nothing to do with Miami! "(Today) Florida doesn't want nothing to do with Miami! Lol! "The Orange Bowl with 80,000 on a Saturday Night, with Muskberger calling the games on CBS, that Notre Dame-Miami game,..those days are long, long gone!" Mad Dog: "It's not Miami in the SEC!" I do agree that Notre Dame to the SEC and Clemson to the SEC! ======================== Tennessee Alum (by default Florida Hater) & Alabama-sniffer, Paul Finebaum who is a total schmuck has this take: "Get a freaking clue..what are U talking about?" "Miami who was yesterday's news is also today's news! & yeah, Mario Cristbaul has lost twice to Oregon but learned under the Great Nick Saban (didn't Billy Napier also) among other things" "..if Mario Cristoball turns it around quick at Miami (highly unlikely as Miami plays a September-road game against Texas AM/Fischer) well then, Cristoball will be considered as the next in line coach to follow Nick Saban as the next Alabama Coach" Me: "Is that not the same saying for Jim McElwain at Florida? Dabbo Sweeney who had actually played at Alabama but won't leave Clemson? Even, Billy Napier if he turns Florida around" Paul F.>So, because Mario Cristobaul learned under Nick Saban, and can potentially turn Miami around and become the future Alabama coach, that's the reason the SEC ought to invite Miami to the SEC!" Me: "Yeah that makes a lot of sense Paul, You get a clue!" =========================
Next. We need to snag a few premier kids this weekend. Continue pursuing this kid if the coaches feel good about him. I would imagine playing in the Swamp would be a waaay better experience for a student athlete. Go Gators.
This is what we used to say about UGA when they started landing all the kids we wanted …now look at our rosters this trend doesn’t end well for us
Disappointing, but think playing weak ACC competition could hinder development and prevent him from making it in the NFL. Noticed Mario only had one kid drafted last year despite 4 years of good recruiting classes. May not be known as developer of talent
Bad miss how? What did Napier and staff do wrong? Blew the visit? Didn’t have enough activities scheduled when he was in Gainesville? Didn’t badger the kid to commit when he was here? Didn’t follow up after he visited? So how did this “Gator lock” get fumbled away by our staff? This “we fvcked up another one” knee jerk reaction to every kid who gets bought by Ruiz and scUM needs to end. We are not playing that game - it’s not our coaches on a “bad miss” here. They’re kicking ass - but we’re not playing that game. And that game is not sustainable. We’re missing out on the flashy headlines but we’re playing the long game and we will have a quality team to pull for this fall. Go Gators.
The envy I hear from some (mostly elsewhere) regarding the "success" of scUM in outright buying players (while flouting "the rules" AND state law) makes me sad. Coach Spurrier won without systematic, institutional cheating. Billy Donovan did likewise. Coach Graves would be distraught if he knew UF had stooped to the blatantly unethical garbage going on at scUM, ATM, UT, UGA, Bammer and elsewhere. How many Danny Wuerffels, Chris Doerings or Tim Tebows are we going to scoop up by going rogue? How many millions have to be squandered in the pursuit of 17 Y.O.s who will bolt the moment someone comes along with a better offer? How many of these instant millionaires who haven't done a thing to earn that status are going to fall flat on their faces or turn out to be a terminal cancer in the locker room? It's like buying the services of a high-priced prostitute and expecting true love - good luck with that. CFB is truly going to hell in a handbasket if swimming in the sewers with the likes of Jimbo, MC and Ruiz is now the accepted price of "success." In the long run, as Skink has already said, the current clown show going on all around us will eventually collapse under the weight of its own greed and corruption. Be patient, have some pride. This thing will work itself out and the schools who build with "good" players of real character will still be standing when the cheats and charlatans have finally gotten their just deserts. JMHO.
Good question. Bryant, Mauigoa, and Rashada are 3 of Miami's top 4 rated recruits and are all rated higher than any Florida recruit. All officially visited Florida in June and committed to UM within weeks of their UF visit (and Bryant and Mauigoa were on campus unofficially several times this year). Same old same old as Mac and Mullen, we're simply not able to land our high priority recruits.
2 of those guys are west coast guys. And 2 of those guys are said to have taken up front money. I don’t believe this is the same old as we’ve seen in the recent past.
NIL changed everything - trying to draw parallels between today and even last year is silly at best - or more likely trying to support a false claim about our new coaching staff
