Cristobal was always going to be a problem on the recruiting trail. With a weak ACC, he's in a good position to make Miami relevant. Was hoping we could contain the damage to south Florida but looks like he is creeping up the turnpike too.

 

Sure he gets some credit. But it’s not hard to recruit when you can offer the most cash

 

Get used to it, because it’s been made clear we are not playing that game. We’re not jumping in that shark tank with all the chum & scum. I still think we’ll get 3-4 top 100 guys and a pretty large cluster of 101-300. About on par with what Mullen would land. The difference is Napier seems very deliberate about bringing guys in that he knows will contribute. Not a half dozen tweeners with no clear position or role to play, followed by reaching for 3-4 non qualifiers that never make it to campus just to improve your ranking. That was a staple in every one of his cycles. It will take time.

 

Miami fans think Cristobal is gods gift to coaches, but wait until they actually see him lose games because of his incompetence at the actual coaching part of the game. He’s a horrid in game coach and got obliterated by one of the best in the business twice last season in Kyle Whittingham who had half the talent in his Utah roster that Oregon did. He isn’t winning a title in Coral Gables.

folks say Kirby isn’t a great head coach. But if you can get enough talent, anything is possible

 

Miami won’t be getting UGA level talent and wouldn’t be landing half these kids without a billionaire booster in his back pocket.

 

dont matter, they’re getting talent that will get them to the ACC title game which means on the cusp of the CFP

 

What about the players who aren’t so firm?

 

I’ll believe that when you they actually win their division, which they haven’t done since moving to the ACC. Cristobal sucks as a coach, don’t but the hype.

 

This Twitter thread has been fun all summer but let's move away from it when practice starts next week (or even with FNL and the cookout) and make some new threads where folks can pick what topic(s) they want to read about?

His record at Oregon begs to differ that he’s a bad coach as he has won the Pac-12 before and Miami actually did win their division in 2017. Before you use his record at FIU, remember he took over a football program that was only 4 years old

 

Calm down guys UM has landed some solid kids (mostly west coast kids they have been recruiting for 4 years). This class looks similar to the ones he was putting together at Oregon. We all knew he was going to be in that 5-10 range when they hired him. Let’s not act like this is the greatest class of all time.

 

I think you are underselling christobal with an unlimited and unethical bankroll. I for sure didn’t expect Miami to get a top 5 class year 1.

 

Went 35-13 with 2 New years six appearances. Sounds similar to another guy we just canned. He did it in the SEC too. Just sayin...

Agreed, and with one of them completely imploding for a whole season, they still managed to match records. Not to mention DMs competition level.

I dont think Cristobal is a bad coach. I think he may be dangerous and have his moments, but he isnt out coaching any top Ccoaches. He dang sure might out recruit them and, like Kirby Shart, out talent them on the field eventually.
