language NSFW A man and woman were arrested on Tuesday morning after they allegedly attacked a man driving on Interstate 45 with his toddler son, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. Nazly Ortiz, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and Benjamin Greene, 34, was charged with assault, Gonzalez said. The shooting happened at about 11:30 a.m. on Parramatta Lane in north Harris County. A man driving a Toyota Camry got off the highway; he was followed by Greene and Ortiz, who were in a Dodge Ram. Ortiz and Greene told investigators they had been hit by the Camry. The man said he may have cut the truck off, but didn't hit it, according to the sheriff's office. The man driving the car had his 2-year-old son with him. When both vehicles stopped, Greene got out of the truck and assaulted the man, Gonzalez said. When the man tried to drive away, Ortiz got out of the truck with the handgun and fired into to rear window of the truck. The man was injured during the shooting, although it was unclear if he was hit by a bullet or was cut by broken glass, according to the sheriff's office. Another bullet struck a car dealership nearby, he said. No one else was injured. Ortiz and Greene were still in custody on Tuesday afternoon, according to the sheriff's office. This was a paywalled article, so I tried to search for an alternate. The crazy thing is when you search for “Houston road rage shooting” you get almost unlimited results, including murders where they have yet to ID the suspect. What the heck is going on there in TX?
It should be, that psycho easily could've killed that 2-year old child sitting in the back. Luckily, she has the aim of Harry
2 counts. Can you imagine if the baby had been hit? I think the crime should match the potential outcome in some cases. Edit: Coop beat me to it. I think we were typing at the same time.
Hopefully those were initial charges to get them off the street. I would imagine more charges are coming. She hit the car dealership and there was some question on whether the victim was grazed by a bullet.
Seems like guns in road rage incidents are a Texas tradition. Slightly off-topic and extremely anecdotal, over 30 years ago my wife and I stayed a resort where meals were served family style at one of the restaurants. One of the other people seated at the table with us was an ER doctor at a hospital in Dallas, Parkland if I recall, who mentioned in the course of conversation that he treated gunshot victims of road rage incidents an average of once a week. Have to admit I was somewhat shocked at the time although I probably wouldn't be now.
