I don't believe your post was right on. I often edit posts that I'm responding to down to the precise point of discussion. It's best for concision and clarity.
The term OP refers to the Original Poster or Original Post which was me. I said nothing to lead anybody to believe Mayor Beetlejuice was driving. I think we all understand when the Mayor of a major city is traveling she is in a motorcade. If anybody doesn't understand it is clearly in the article I linked. You edited beyond the subject of the post to the precise point that changed what myself and G8R92 were both talking about, the Original Poster me. Now if you want to make the statement you made about the article I linked go ahead but don't answer my post with Naw.... Start your own statement. My statements were right on with the line of the thread.
I had to pay a parking ticket for my car that someone else drove. Its a part of the ordinance in my city. How is it different for red lights?
The owner still has to pay the tickets and as I previously mentioned, Lightfoot was a passenger in a vehicle owned by the city and driven by a city employee so I guess the appropriate procedure would be for the city to pay the city the full of amounts of the fines.
There are a lot of constitutional issues with red light cameras. It violates your 6th amendment right to confront your accuser. It also assumes guilt for the owner of the vehicle and puts the burden of proof on them. Also, in Florida, the cameras were operated and reviewed by a private company, who then notified the police. This delegates police power to a non-police force. They have been challenged in Florida a lot. I had 2. Got one thrown out and the second one should have too. It was a company vehicle we we didn't know who was driving it. The judge issued the ticket to the registered owner. Which is ridiculous.
Yes, I do know about those challenges. I'm specifically referencing imposing fines on innocent parties.
That was what happened on the ticket I had that should have been thrown out. It was a work truck thay gets driven by several employees. There was no photo of the driver, it could have been any of 3 people. The judge offered some bullshit that we should have records of who is driving our truck and when, which isn't an actual requirement. He issued the ticket to me, as the truck is in my name. As much as I wanted to fight it, it wasn't worth any more hassle at that point. Absolute bullshit
Well it seems Ms lightfoot feels that red light cams and school zone cams are very important to Chicago traffic safety. One would think if she is adamant about the safety of the streets she would ask her drivers to be more considerate of other drivers/pedestrians.
I think it points out we have another "do as I say, not as I do" politician, and yes I realize the mayor wasn't driving. But it doesn't take much to realize you are speeding through a school zone and direct the driver to slow down.
That’s been my argument too but it’s happened. It can be contested but it’s a PITA to do so. Red Light Camera Ticket in Florida? Learn Your Options! - TicketFit
Yes, I agree that if the mayor were sitting there watching the speedometer and not on the phone, laptop, reading papers, in a conversation, etc. .... then she should correct the driver to obey the speed limit and stop at each light if there's any chance at all that the vehicle won't make it before it turns red. It just seems a bit weird to have an attempted gotcha moment because Lightfoot hasn't paid the traffic fines for a vehicle she doesn't own, wasn't driving and may not have actually been in at the time. Especially from a poster who regularly complains about others posting petty threads.
You mean like threads about Wuhan lab, Matt Gaetz, Trumps shadow government. Stuff like that? Or road rage in Texas or a Republican attending his gay sons wedding......Must I go on?
