Gator Baseball 2023 Official Roster Tracker/Lineup???

i was watching that game, the umpire was an idiot. He called 7 balks in that week long tourny. I replayed Waldrep's balk several times(which cost USA a run) and could not find what he did. He pitched well the first 2 inn. He did after all Make TEAM USA roster. One short outing not much to judge. look at LSU's D. Crews, he only had like 1 or 2 hits the entire week, are you gonna call him a bad hiiter?

 

Not calling anyone a bad anything. I hope he does well.

 

Anyone seen where Colby Thomas signed yet?

 

According to MLB.com, no he hasn’t signed yet.

 

Sully has a nice little pipeline going with Stoneman Douglas High, which may be the top program in Florida.

 

D1 Baseball has 2 of our guys ranked in top 20 for next year, they better add Colby to that list, he is tearing up the Cape, he hit his 7th homerun and batting .325!!

It’s only been one week since the 2022 MLB Draft, but it’s already time to turn the page and give an early look at the Top 30 college prospects for next year’s draft.

Combining power with hit ability is Wyatt Langford (Florida) at No. 5 overall. The Gators’ leadoff man stood out this spring for his consistent triple digit exit velocities as he broke out in a big way as a sophomore, leading the team in hitting (.355), home runs (26), triples (3), on-base percentage (.447), and slugging/ISO-power (.719/.364). Limited to a corner in the outfield due to solid but unspectacular foot speed and closing ability, Langford has more than enough raw pop to fit there as a pro. He will return to campus this fall as one of the top offensive outfielders and high up pro follow lists.
19. Hurston Waldrep, RHP, Florida
Waldrep is a 6-foot-2, 205, pounder, who dazzled scouts in the spring with his electric fastball up to 98 mph. His secondary stuff is continuing to improve, while he profiles as a reliever at the next level.

 

unspectacular foot speed??? Guess he didnt see Langford run down some balls and beat out infield singles with his hair on fire. Dude running 4.0 and 4.1 home to first

 

Just getting ready to post this about Waldrep. I think some may underscoring his abilities and the impact of us picking him up. I changed my stance to say that he might be our Saturday guy instead of Friday night guy but only because he’s not been in the program and Neely has. On stuff alone he’s definitely our Friday night guy. My opinion It is the old Sully would thrown him out there on Friday night and not worried about anybody else’s feelings but would have done this as a strategy piece to try to motivate others. In other words step your game up or even follow the leader. Singer, Faedo and several groups I can think of would have responded well to this. Maybe we see old Sully?

 

Wyatt is definitely 4.0-4.1 to first and can flat out move.

 

I agree completely. It isn’t a lack of foot speed. He doesn’t always take the best route but he will learn. I think he has a solid future defensively. He may never be Bader but not many are. Gold Glove CFs don’t grow on trees.

 

Have been off line for a few- what's the scuttlebutt on Sproat? Is he driving a hard bargain?. He will be approaching 23 in next draft so a a bit of a liability unless he has a lights out year. Risky not to sign, in my view. Also- do we have any updates on transfer portal? LSU seems to be doing alright with some quality incoming transfers.

Thanks Matt-- informative piece. Given that Parada has not signed and is also driving a hard bargain- that increases the chances of Sproat not signing. As article notes, Mets wish to avoid not signing their top pick two years running- so likely will bump up Parada well beyond slot and that would leave a bit less for Sproat. It would be for the Gators if he returns - of course-- but not so good for Sproat in my view - again unless he has lights out year and becomes first rounder.
