I am a libertarian. I will use whatever words I feel like creating on this board. I just have to be careful about using words that start with qu or gl.
There is no putting the genie back in the bottle. College sports …. as we know it … is dead. I hope it reverses, but I feel myself checking out I’ve never been less enthused as fall sports approach than I am this year.
Come on. College sports will still be great. Some kids will go pro early and some will transfer, but we will get over it. Look at me. Look how I have gotten over it. By the way, I am talking about Mike Miller and Donnell Harvey leaving early when we would have been heavy favorites to win the national title in 2001. I got over that in 2006. I still haven’t gotten over Nembhard and Glover leaving, but I am confident that will happen this season.
I think schools should have leverage options. What if enough schools would only offer players a 4-year scholarship option, they could still transfer anywhere they want (like any student), but they could only play within that scholarship period at the school they signed with (and their scholarship value was guaranteed at the original school regardless of performance). Coaching changes may or may not factor into it depending on what the schools want to allow. Just seems like schools have very little hand in this. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
The Wild, wild west started about 15 years ago, but we were all too hungover from the Natty celebration parties to notice!
I’ll be singing Hallelujah if I make it to 2056. Thinking about the 7 years of basketball under Mike White will piss me off forever.
You can always root for the uniform when the opportunity is convenient, which is about all we're left with now. More so than in the past it's about TV money and gambling. Do not dismiss the latter.
CT ladies basketball program got an International transfer last week to replace their injuries guard lost for the season. Was surprising as she was a top young international player. Would have thought other programs would’ve targeted her
I was heading in this direction myself however the political, environmental, and social concerns that are engulfing the USA and all other nations, caused me to reevaluate, accordingly, I find myself supremely grateful to have the distraction of sports and specifically, UF sports, as a Segway to a happier place. The loss of traditional collegiate amateur sports status is small potatoes given "real world" concerns.
