This clown drives a Rolls and wears extravagant amounts of jewelry was robbed live of close to $1M worth of jewelry. How anybody continues to give their hard earned money to charlatans like this and O'Steen is beyond me. IRS seriously needs to crack down on the "religions" that are for profit of the "pastors". Laws need to be changed such that a not for profit has a reasonable cap on salary and benefits for leaders A high-profile pastor was robbed during a live-streamed service in NYC : NPR Gunmen burst into a church as its pastor was live-streaming a service in Brooklyn on Sunday, making off with more than $1 million worth of jewelry from him and his wife, according to the New York Police Department. The thieves targeted Bishop Lamor Whitehead, who heads the Leaders of Tomorrow International Churches and is known for flashy displays of wealth. Whitehead also describes New York Mayor Eric Adams, the former president of the Brooklyn borough, as his mentor. .................................... "I know a lot of people are gonna say, 'Oh, why are you so flashy?' " he said. "It's not about me being flashy," he added. "It's about me purchasing what I want to purchase. It's my prerogative to purchase what I want to purchase. If I worked hard for it, I can purchase what I want to purchase."
The issue is these guys often dont make their money from a church. They make it through books or side gigs. Nothing the IRS can do as long as they pay their income taxes. Apparently this guy is some sort of real estate "Mogul". So its not really a reflection on a church, other than they are following a bad shepherd A lot of good pastors out there making good honest money and thats fine, but some of these guys are just the lowest form of evil and they will get theirs.
I would love it if the crook did a real Robin Hood here and gave the goods to the poor. Kind of like Jesus wanted the rich to do.
Caveat emptor. If some loon wants to give their money to this even Bigger loon, that’s on them. Keep wearing that ice.
My objection is the donations are tax free. I am not opposed to people stupidly giving him money. My problem is with having to subsidize it.
This incident is like an SNL skit satiring the wealth of pulpit shysters. Are we sure it wasn't a skit? If it wasn't, it's life imitating art.
After reading these posts you would think the victim was the perpetrator. Those Star Trek uniforms are not cheap and need some bling.
I'd like to see a preacher pass the collection plate around to the flock, and then some Robin Hood grabs the collection plate and gives all the money back to the flock.
Reassuring to know I will never be robbed for my jewelry - have none. Don’t even wear my wedding ring as my fingers have been broken and dislocated too many times.
Jesus said, "Don't cast your pearls before swine." For a preacher that could mean don't be wearing pearls when you're not sure who the swine is out there.
