What’s funny about conservatives hating on higher ed is that higher Ed is literally the bedrock of western economic, political, and military domination. And they ignorantly piss on it daily. Ironically the worst part about higher ed in modern times is the fact that it’s being commercialized, but republicans continually vote for people that espouse that system.

we are who we are because of higher ed. not because some country bumpkin pulled himself up by his bootstraps.

Well, that's obvious. I'm not shit talking UF, my daughter went there and graduated and so did many of my friends. I never said college was a scam, the article I posted did. There is some truth to that with some majors, as an educated person you and others I would think know that.
I'm not downing college education, it's needed in some fields, but trade schools or going to business for yourself is becoming more popular and rewarding for many.
As a business owner I would meet with other business owners, and we would bounce ideas off each other and guide one another. One year we had MBA student come attend most of our meetings, at the end he told us he learned more from this group than from the classroom. I have no doubt what UF taught him in the classroom was extremely beneficial to him, but real-life experience can't be touched.

i don’t think you’re posting things you know vs things you think.
Link? Because you are dead wrong. I know, I know.... you're shocked. Basically no one becomes a teacher to get rich, its not near the top of the list of reasons people become teachers. They are teachers because they want to make a difference and are passionate about the subject they teach. Not everything is a cost/benefit analysis

Every statistic I see shows more college bound students each year pre Covid.

Regurgitating non-substantive empty talking points does not contradict my statement. Republicans are anti-education.

In one sense, I have no problem with him telling his audience to skip college, but this is also the demographic that thinks they are entitled to run this country, and will try to do it by force if necessary.

It’s borderline impossible to “get rich” being a teacher, at least up through high school level. So literally no teacher would get into that for the riches. Obviously University professors who bring in the $$$ generally get rewarded pretty well, but that’s a different game entirely (research). About the best a secondary school teacher can do is middle class lifestyle, but in some spots they can’t even achieve that or are falling below middle class income. In those cases is it any wonder they can’t find qualified teachers?

Unfortunately “administrators” generally do really well for themselves even where teachers get nothing. Funny how that works out.

And the gun packing, bomb planting, bear spraying, capitol storming, righties are so docile, centered and peaceful. No anger there... Gimme a break. The entire GOP/Faux News universe is geared toward fear mongering and hatred. Nice try tho. 'Sigh'.

Don't know about getting rich but the parking lot at my kids' school was filled with Beamers, Audis and a few Mercedes. Tenure and a masters degree teaching there can provide a pretty comfortable lifestyle and a great pension. Most of my daughter's teachers made between $100 and $130k. My son had a lot of high level stem courses so his teachers were in the $140 to $175k range. A two-teacher household could live very comfortably. That was 10 years ago. There were seven or eight districts in Cook County at the time that paid more.

My sister-in-law in Bay County has been teaching for 40 years and makes less than $45k.

Well, technically it was Law Enforcement spraying - but with bear spray. That stuff is powerful and no joke for the target.

Technically, it was LEO getting sprayed with bear spray by Trump supporters - or was it Antifa, can't remember.

No teacher has made $175K in history.

Those BMW’s are from the spouse or parents who make actual money. Lots of teachers do it because the household enables them to.
