This post shows why sex education needs to be taught in school. A grown man not knowing the difference between ejaculation and conception. Sweet Jesus, save me.

When does masturbation get banned, and how will the authorities enforce the laws? Government cameras all through our houses. Ma, I'll be down for dinner in a little while. I am up on the roof jacking off.

I think it's rather hubristic to assume that the bill was drafted solely to protect emergency contraception as well as being objected to for the same reason. Such an assertion reeks of projection bias.

Most of the quotes I've seen from Republican representatives speak of states' rights and religious freedom as justification for their votes. You know, the usual rhetoric to control other people's lives.

Do i really have to explain what I meant?
Dear lors...let me explain how it works

A pre sex contraceptive prevents fertilization. Pretty sure most if not all post intercourse contraceptives will terminate post conception.

That better? No goal posts were moved in the making of my post.

    Ok.

So you put on a condom BEFORE sex. Otherwise you are doing it wrong.

Are you really struggling with this?

    Stop being obtuse.

Are you new to how bills work?
Hubris? I'm stating the way this works every day.

Bills have a lot of stuff. One side objects. They probably rewrite the bill with a few things omitted and on it goes.

Are you opposed to the morning after pill? And, if so, are you saying that the woman or child already is pregnant?

You're the one re-defining and making up terms to fit your argument.

Condoms, vaginal rings and diaphragms are contraception devices that block semen from getting to the uterus. I don't know what you mean by pre-sex since their function is post ejaculation. I suppose parachutes are pre-falling devices, too.

The purpose of contraception is to avoid pregnancy. In medical terms and in the eyes of the Federal government, pregnancy begins at implantation. Any measure taken to avoid implantation is contraception.

Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy.

I suspect you're trying to say that any intervention between fertilization and implantation is immoral because of your atypical and non-medical interpretation of "conception". You may be surprised to know that while emergency contraception may create an inhospitable environment for implantation, its primary goal is to delay or stop ovulation so an egg does not get fertilized. As such, do you really think there's a meaningful difference between stopping the sperm from getting to the egg and stoping the egg from meeting the sperm?

Dude. I mean you put them on before sex. How hard is this? If you put your rubber on at the end, it wont work.

I mean stop being obtuse and acting like a 50 year old father of 3 doesnt know how this stuff works

The original point here is that conservatives use birth control. The reason they opposed this bill os because of the other forms protected. Not because of condoms.

    It is nonsensical.

Tampa, I didnt vote. I am explaining why the people who did voted that way. It wasnt due to condoms.

You really think there is a groundswell of conservatives wanting to have 26 kids?

The original point that conservatives want to block condom use is nonsense.

The morning after pill is a separate debate to be had with people knowing more about science than me explaining it.

That isnt the point. The point is the guys voting weren't doing it because of condoms.

I'm not saying what I think about any of ot. Im explaining why the vote went like it did.

You arent arguing on good faith. You are too busy making up junior high insults about me not knowing how birth control works. (Though I have miraculously made it through 22 years of marriage with only getting my wife pregnant 3 times.) I have no interest in continuing the debate with you.

    This vote wasnt about condoms.

    I'm out.

My point is that all of the methods described in the bill, including the ones that occur after sex, are intended to prevent pregnancies. As to why the Republican congressman voted against the bill, my guess is because they don’t want to rile up their constituents. I doubt that they otherwise really give a crap about the issue that is the subject of the bill.

You think their constituents want condoms banned?

I can totally see some concern with the vague language of emergency contraceptives that meet FDA approval. That is a broad statement.

I don’t know what exactly their constituents want. Some will be opposed to condoms. Some will be opposed to any bill introduced by a Democrat. Some will be opposed because they think that this will lead to laws that allow the abortion of babies until they turn one. Some will be opposed because they want their state and themselves to decide how people live.

Many religions, including the Catholic church, prohibit condoms. This isn’t some implausible concept.
