Way easier to do that than say I pissed off UF and they backed away from my client

16th to 28th. Tgat just goes to show you the ranking services are crap. One thing that's true. Trust your evals, not the media.

This situation, and these debates are like the blind men and the elephant. Each holds on to a different part and declares that is the truth.
    Here is some truth:
1.CBN looks good to us (biased, jaded and hopeful)for his planning thoughtfulness and approaches to the game, staff and players.
    2. From the outside, he looks like an up and comer with NO SEC experience.
    3. Recruits like him and his staff and SOME are going to buy in.
    4. Miami glitters to recruits (always has) and Cristobal is shiny and already has a (deserved or not) strong reputation to kids.
    5. NO ONE knows for sure about the $$$$$$. Reports? Seriously?
    6. CBN has a pretty good class going (****'s) with kids who are meeting HIS criteria.
    7. Miami is off to a strong start. F 'em or good for them. Who is surprised?
    8. We will be fine! Whose hands would your rather be in? Cristobal or Napier?
    9. CHILL. It is July. The games are played in September. remember? The games?

@eastowest i'm invested in where we finish cause I be on the Canes main free board, CanesInSight, and I made a bet with them that we'd finish top 10 in recruiting this cycle. If I win, they rock a Gator avi for a week and if I lose, I rock a Canes avi for a week. All good fun though, they're pretty cool over there.

Here's my post I made for the reason I made/took the bet (I mistakenly said 12th in my opening sentence, but it's 10th at the worst). This post was made on Tuesday:

Lol they were on my NECK when I first started posting over there lmao. It was INSANE!! Took a few months for em to realize I wasn't there trolling or being a trojan horse, and that I generally just like to talk college football civilly. But yes with this bet we have in place, they're relentless with the teasing since they're ahead of us in the recruiting rankings so far. I got faith in ole Billy though. I think he's following somewhat of how Saban built Bama...BUILD THE DEFENSIVE LINE first before anything. You can cover up a lot of weaknesses defensively if you're front 4 and front 7 can cause havoc. You can always get a passable enough O to win big now in days.

    Let me guess...your flagator86?
I've been going there a lot for info the last couple of months since we are after a lot of the same players. So is there a particularly site (247/rivals) the Gatirs have to be in the final top 10 for you to win?

lol yes that's me. And yes, we're going off 247 team composite after NSD to determine it and yes Florida has to be in the top 10. I'm basically saying "Cormani or bust"

Not with me. I don't want the services to show love to UF. I want them to be objective. Their rankings are too much of an outlier, though I do appreciate their composite rankings.

The fact that our ranking ranges from 16th to 28th (that's a 75% error) says something about what an inexact science the recruiting service ranking process is.

That’s why I follow the offer list especially on guys that are outside the top 300

That might make more sense. I guess even that can lead you astray though, because there is this concept of "committable" and "non-committable" offers. The only true gauge these days might be signings, enrollments, and portal lists.

I've always felt that rivals and 247 were on the opposite side and tend to slight us. On3 recent predictions on some of our targets suck though. Lol

The rankings will work themselves out I think. Players are continually evaluated, (I assume) and each service has a different algorithm (I assume) which takes different factors into place. Once each team has a full class I think it will normalize. But yeah, it’s definitely an inexact science.

I like following the rankings and off season recruiting because it just helps pass the time and gives you something to talk about. In reality, I just want this staff to prioritize Jax, Orlando, Tampa, and Gainesville (when high level P5 talent emerges from there) yearly.

Those 4 areas, give me at least 3 of the top 5 guys from those areas yearly, damn whatever they're ranked by these websites, and we'll have a sustainable long term thing here.

I literally just said this same thing the other week. With slight differences , I didn't mention Tampa or Orlando because those would be more difficult to lock down from others but give me them all lol

Defensive Line DLine DL recruiting thread
Just give us all the Jacksonville, Gainesville, lake city and Ocala kids. Let us lock down that area from any visitors. Always top talent in...

I wouldn’t expect too much usually from lake, Ocala, or even Gainesville. But when they do have talent we should be on it early and be able to win the hometown battles. I don’t think we necessarily have to lock down Orlando/Tampa, but we sure can’t let all the other big schools come in and get first picks.

Right that's why I tried to use my logic with wiggle room. Obviously we wont sweep that area yearly, but at least take notice to the top talent in those areas, be on them early and often, and if we do lose out on those kids, make whatever school they pick have to WORK for it.
