Ex presidents should be locked up or subjected to same punishment as you or I when they break the law. Period.
Once Trump learned that nat guard troops were in route to squash it he issued his statement. That was about the same time that the seditious conspirators trying to stage a coup were nearing safe zones that, if breached, would have subjected them to live fire. At that point, the leaders of the coup attempt faced the reality that 1. Trump wasn't going to protect them. 2. They didn’t want to die for this bs 3. They stood no chance against the guard. I still maintain that the capital police should have been better armed and opened fire much sooner. If that was a BLM mob storming the capital I have no doubt they would have done so.
No but I believe my own two eyes. Just watch the video, throw out your personal biases and tell me it is not obvious there is something behind the Epps thing. I know, I know the J6 committee says they talked to Epps. So if they want Epps conspiracies to go away put him on display in one of these televised witch hunts. Otherwise the video evidence is pretty convincing.
Not to mention he was one of the first J6 participants on the FBIs wanted list and then photo's were quickly taken down...... Y'all know this wouldn't be the first time FBI plants were used in such incidents.
it’s trump followers who readily believe conspiracy theories because it’s confirmation bias. Epps says said his life “its been hell” receiving death threats people trespassing on his property, shell casings on his property. He’s was in the center of the nutty right wing echo chamber- trump, tucker, MTG, Cruise. “he's not among the hundreds of Capitol rioters who were arrested and charged, the events that followed ruined his life, he said. Epps, 61, became the center of a conspiracy theory, pushed by the former president himself, that would cause him to sell his business and his home and go into hiding, And for what — lies?" The baseless theory stemmed from attempts by some on the right to blame the Capitol riot on federal agents, who they claimed wanted a reason to provoke a crackdown on conservatives.“ Trump supporter Ray Epps: January 6 conspiracy theory ruined his life
oh, the ole, well, I am not responsible for my actions because someone encouraged me to break the law. dumb.
I'm not a lawyer like some of the people here but isn't there such a thing as entrapment? Oh here is another little gem in the Ray Epps situation.
There is such a thing as entrapment and this doesn’t meet the test. You do know that the assertion that federal agents created 1-6 is a flat out lie. Try to grasp that. It is Seth Rich worthy. The video isn’t convincing of anything. It is x files stuff that you want to believe.
a conservative publication….. “As his followers stormed the Capitol, calling for his vice president to be hanged, President Donald Trump sat in his private dining room, watching TV, doing nothing. For three hours, seven minutes. To his eternal shame, as appalled aides implored him to publicly call on his followers to go home, he instead further fanned the flames by tweeting: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution.” His only focus was to find any means — damn the consequences — to block the peaceful transfer of power.” Trump’s silence on Jan. 6 is damning
'He doesn't put country first': Trump's former Defense Secretary trashes his patriotism in CNN interview On CNN Monday, former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, a longtime member of the Trump administration, made clear he does not support his former boss and does not believe he should hold the presidency again. "You served during a tumultuous time in the Trump administration, you were fired in November, November 9th of 2020," said anchor Brianna Keilar. "As you're watching these January 6th hearings, what are you thinking?" "Well, I wish I was able to see more of them, but like many Americans, I found myself stuck on airplanes or airports," said Esper. "Each hearing, as I read in the paper, the facts are startling. I've been saying, shocking but not surprising. It's an important service they were providing to recount what happened on January 6th and the days and weeks leading up to it. It's important for us to understand our history, and that there be accountability."
Snyder’s book Bloodlands: the war between Hitler and Stalin should be read by one and all. Also: On Tyranny. edit: the Bloodlands are mostly Ukraine and Poland and provides some history of Ukraine that I was unaware of.
One of the insurrectionists is running for the state house from jail. One of Brown’s biggest supporters is Cathi Chamberlain of Defend Florida, a right-wing group against government mandates and federal overreach that claims the 2020 presidential election was stolen. The two met after Chamberlain invited Brown onto her podcast. Chamberlain said she introduced Brown to the idea of running for office from jail, “because it’s very difficult for any conservative to get the word out about anything that we’re doing.” These people are not in touch with reality. This accused Tampa Jan. 6 insurrectionist is running for Florida House from jail
The Committee will be having hearings on the pre-1-6 intel failures that led to the riot. FBI failures before the Capitol siege avoided the Jan. 6 committee's scorn. Not for long.
seems that even the watchdog group is being led by a MAGA contingent as they actively tried to hinder the recovery of the missing texts. why these agencies ahven't purged the partisan hacks that Trump appointed is beyond my understanding. Seems like Mr Kait needs to be fired and brought up on charges House panels: DHS officials interfered in effort to get lost Secret Service texts (msn.com) Taken together, the new revelations appear to show that the chief watchdog for the Secret Service and DHS took deliberate steps to stop the retrieval of texts it knew were missing, and then sought to hide the fact that it had decided not to pursue that evidence. The inspector general’s office had initially sought to retrieve the lost texts from across the DHS – spanning both the Secret Service as well as former DHS Secretary Chad Wolf and his deputy Ken Cuccinelli – as part of its internal review into January 6. But six weeks after the inspector general’s office first requested Secret Service communications from the time of the Capitol attack, that effort was shut down by Thomas Kait, the deputy inspector general for inspections and evaluations, the House committees said. “Use this email as a reference to our conversation where I said we no longer request phone records and text messages from the USSS relating to the events on January 6th,” Kait wrote in a July 2021 email to senior DHS liaison official Jim Crumpacker that was obtained by Congress. The House committees also disclosed they had learned that Kait and other senior officials manipulated a memo, authored on 4 February 2022, that originally criticized DHS for refusing to cooperate with its investigation and emphasized the need to review certain texts.
Rut roh raggy. Looks like the texts have been released. Something tells me there’s something pretty damning in those texts for the attorney to risk legal malpractice and the judge rule so quickly to release them to the committee Alex Jones' texts have been turned over to the January 6 committee, source says - CNNPolitics Approximately two years' worth of text messages sent and received by right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones have been turned over to the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection, a person familiar with the matter told CNN on Monday.
