Bear in mind the contract cannot bind a kid to a school, certainly no pay for play specifics.
My understanding is that many tie a kid to a school indirectly....for example Nico and the Vols has him with scheduled appearances in Knoxville. Wouldn't be able to do that playing somewhere else.

Rashada and UM is more problematic. Being in California he can start getting paid NOW, so the Cane money is getting frontloaded (reportedly part of the difference between their offer and UF). He gets a year + of money before he can ever enroll at UM. IF they frontload it could be difficult to keep him from double dipping I suppose. Get paid by UM now, then dump them and get paid by someone else in Dec. I'm sure the Cane/Ruiz contract has some language to try and mitigate, but I don't know what that might entail. Regardless, what a mess

What is young bringing in right now? He is the reigning Heisman winner. It seems , at least from what we have heard, his "huge" deal last year has been dwarfed by the recent 8 figure deals we've been hearing about. Hopefully he is taken care of accordingly, those are the players that have earned the big payday.

Saying that AR is proven is a stretch imo. He’s proven to have immense potential

my questions would be who is behind the report that UF offered 11.5? Who is the group that allegedly offered money? Have they put out a public statement? And lastly, who do you trust?

I think he has a very unique situation. Say he’s making $1 million and Rashada is making $2 million. Is it worth it to him to go to Miami for 2 million or stay at Alabama and be top pic in six months. He has the players around him to be very successful this year.

Biggest difference is we know what kind of competition they face in a conference like the SEC or the BIG10. We have history that shows us what QB's who have excelled in that conference can do in the NFL. That's not so much the same for a HS QB hailing from Pittsburgh, CA. I personally have never heard of their team before rashada. Don't know the division he plays in or any of the schools he played against. I also can't think of any QB success stories coming out of Pittsburgh, CA. It's hard to compare a players success in a major D1 college conference to that of a small school district who isn't known for their football prowess or producing NFL talent.

It's not the switching teams that worries me, it's the inevitable holdouts that I fear we will start seeing. We see it all the time in the NFL, players want to be paid what they think they are worth. That's why some contracts of players greatly affect other players upcoming contracts, because each new contract that exceeds previous highs is just setting a new bar. Just crazy

Yet top picks tgat play for sec schools fail and players from small colleges succeed. Nfl and college are two different worlds. Florida has a long list of great college qbs but not really any pros that were all that.

It’s a bummer but it’s what we have. Aaron Rodgers took all the cap space and lost his only great receiver because of it. We will see a lot of that too. The deep pocket teams will pick rosters of lesser teams clean. I don’t blame kids for taking all the cash they can get, that’s what the schools do. I do however have a lot of respect for guys that take less in favor of helping their team. As much as I hate the Oatriots, they’ve done a great job of team chemistry and having a lockeroom that has kept egos in check. Randy Moss seems to be a cancer until he got there. I think maybe Napier is looking that direction and getting guys that aren’t big mouths. You don’t often hear Bama guys running their mouth either so he probably learned something in tgat regard.

Ewers says hello. I guess that nil deal didn’t have enough to bind him. It’s a work in progress for sure. Hopefully it gets better. There’s so many moving parts right now.

Yeah. Did Ewers walk away from money, or did he get to keep his deal? Did UT offer a better deal? Was the reality of not playing at Oh St the wakeup call that short term money might not be so important?

I was under the impression he got paid, left after not winning the job and got paid again but who knows how the money went down.

Possible. But I would think OSU had some type of language to mitigate.....can't imagine it was all frontloaded. That seems to be a difference between UF and some like Ruiz.

Common sense would say he got “some” of the cash and the rest would come throughout his career. We haven’t seen any of these contracts tried in court yet but that has to be coming. Kids will try to take tge money and run and boosters will try to recover money they feel was basically stolen. Litigation against players will have negative impact though.

If he wins the Heisman are we paying him 20 million signing bonus plus guaranteeing his salary for a few years? Nah.

Nope but it looks like Bryce Young got 3.1 for this year. That’s not going to the highest bidder either. That’s staying put on the favorite to win another championship.

So? He had to come back. You think he comes back even to the highest bidder as opposed to first round money and a couple years guarantee. (And I'm just going of f vague recollection of what a first rounder gets but I think it is ballpark.)

I was more speaking to the estimated value of a heisman qb value the following year. AR can leave and Young couldn’t but that may not change his value in college. AR has to go though if he’s a first rd pick obviously.

TBH, I trust our commits and class ranking. I wish someone with the knowledge would post our position boards so we know where we stand.

I don’t think it’s fair to have to know the truth- the real truth- about something we allegedly offered but at the same time believe everything going on at a rival can be substantiated by “$$$” or “Ruiz”.

Having said that, I do not care about the Rashada deal. I don’t believe he’s worth $8 million amd I will not say “poor guy” if he’s benched. Back to our recruiting, how do our boards look?

How long have you been following recruiting? No one is gonna post our position boards. Dive in deep enough and make some assumptions and you can probably get a good idea, but not usually concrete.

not sure what you are saying about the truth, but if you don’t know the truth, probably shouldn’t have a strong opinion.

as for our boards, I assume they are nice but not where we want them.
