I see that whole innocent until proven guilty thing really counts for a lot with you. DAs generally have the option of pretrial detention for dangerous people. If they don't want to jump through those hoops, we shouldn't be holding people accused of crimes.
Im sure liberals have affected everything, as have conservatives. That is the nature of human involvement. I don’t think they’ve ruined any of those institutions.
It takes a lot of nerve for people who think that 1/6 was a peaceful protest to come here and criticize this.
I’m not sure it takes a ton of gall to suggest that someone who tried to stab a political candidate shouldn’t be released without bail. I would expect that to be a fairly uncontroversial position.
It should be more galling that there was a coup attempt lead by the POTUS on 1/6, but it isn't to the OP and others here. Maybe you missed analogies day during your years of schooling.
Perhaps he should have been charged with attempted murder since it sounds like that was what he was up there to do.
If he was really attempting to murder the guy, why did he use a plastic key chain and, more importantly, why didn't he actually stab the guy with it rather than simply holding it against his neck?
I heard on the radio he has been rearrested on federal charges of attacking a Congressman. The suspect in the attack of Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., was arrested Saturday afternoon on a federal assault charge, the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Western District of New York announced. David Jakubonis is scheduled to make his first court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marion W. Payson Saturday. Zeldin is running for New York governor as a Republican. Jakubonis, 43 of Fairmont, New York, has been charged with attempted assault in the second degree on the state level. He was arraigned in Perinton Town Court and released on his own recognizance after the Thursday attack
No bail is such a stupid idea. It’s a shame the crimes can’t just be perpetuated against just those for it.
Too bad it wasn’t in Florida against an armed citizen. He would have been eliminated and we wouldn’t be wasting time on this POS.
