Looks like Haley Lee from Texas A&M is going to Oklahoma (has it in her bio on Instagram) The rich get richer. Bleh.
Great article about the 2023 commit, Keagan Rothrock. She is a two-time Extra Innings, MaxPreps POY, and Gatorade National Player of the year. https://extrainningsoftball.com/ext...gh-school-player-of-the-year-keagan-rothrock/
5th Commit for 2023 that hasn't really got any press. Plays for Lakewood Ranch High School and Tampa Mustangs TJ Both teams are coached by TJ Goelz, who is Kinsey and Avery's dad, and they both played on these teams. Cassidy McLellan's High School Softball Stats
Really hoping Lexie can develop her command, location, repertoire and consequently her confidence. She has so much potential.
High School Sports Awards: Texas Softball Phenom Ava Brown Exhibits Stellar Leadership-Florida 2023 Commit Douglas Clark USA TODAY Ventures Events Sometimes a setback can spur greatness. Such was the case with the 2022 Lake Creek High School (TX) Lions softball team and sterling pitcher / first baseman Ava Brown. Last year Lake Creek High School was defeated by eventual state champion Barbers Hill High School in the UIL Region III-5A championship series with a trip to the state tournament on the line, but the loss inspired the Lions to complete the mission to the tune of a perfect 41-0 record this season. "Our motto from the beginning of the year was always unfinished business," Brown, who will be recognized during the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards national show broadcast premiering on July 31, 2022, said. "We all had that same mindset, from fall workouts, going into spring training, and all of our practices after school; it was a very competitive season for all of us. We just wanted to work together and reach the end goal, which was to be state champions." Ava Brown is a premier high school softball talent
2024 Commit is Top 25 Softball America-Updated 7/14/2022 This lady is the only one committed in the 2024 Top 25 The reason for this is all these ladies will be entering their Junior Year in high school in the fall and cannot be contacted until the first day. These two committed before the rules changed. 4 Layla Lamar Panther Creek (Cary, N.C.)3B Notes: CLUB TEAM: Lady Dukes COLLEGE: Florida Lamar committed to Florida as a sixth grader just before the new recruiting rules took effect in 2018. Her mother, Marissa Young, starred at Michigan and is now Duke's first head coach. Lamar led her travel team in home runs last summer before sustaining a freak knee injury in August. Tip of the hat to @apgator-Carrassquilo whom I previously had here is no longer a commit. It seems UF moved in another direction.
How exactly does this work? Is a commit just an "I like you" statement where either party can go their separate ways or does it bind UF and/or the player in some way? l know football commits change with the wind, but even there I'm unclear whether only the player can decommit or whether the university can also say, "Nah, we don't want you after all."
Totally non binding.....and I don't think Caraquillo is still a uf commit. Appears uf moved in a different direction
'Two steps backwards, five steps forward': What we learned about Florida softball this year Ainslie Lee Gator Sports In his final postgame press conference of the season, Florida softball's Tim Walton said it best. "We took two steps backwards and five steps forward," Walton said when asked to reflect on the season. Those steps backward, at the time, seemed catastrophic. In the moment, dropping the series to Alabama and being swept by Arkansas in the regular season stung. The pair of losses to Florida State and random loss to Florida Gulf Coast didn't feel great either. But the Gators went some place that those four aforementioned teams did not: the Women's College World Series. "We made it a goal at the beginning of the year to make it back to the World Series and we worked really hard to do that, even at times when our season wasn’t looking so great," fifth-year second baseman Hannah Adams said. "But we will forget about that because we’re at the World Series now." Gators softball: Five takeaways from Florida's roller-coaster season
Thanks for posting that Scrappy -- I hadn't seen it before and it is spot on. This season had some real lows and a few in this forum were pretty harsh. But I think those of us who go to every home game and travel to quite a few away games saw something special in this team that maybe didn't come across on television. Stat for stat, they could not match up with some teams of the past but I'd match their heart and ability to dig deep against any team of recent memory. They pulled themselves up by their bootstraps when necessary quite a few times and did a lot with what they had, which in the end is a tribute to CTW. And with the recruits coming in the next two years, things are only going ot get better. Go Gators!
