Hey Genius. I hate Trump. Refused to vote for him and wont ever vote for him in the future.

Outside of Abortion why dont you list one "hyper conservative" stance I take here?

    Guns? Nope.
    Gay Marriage? Nope.
    Masks? Nope.
    Vaccine? Nope.
    Capital punishment? Nope.
    Health care? Nope.

Why dont you tell the audience where I am hyper conservative or where I have accepted "Trumpism".

Even the liberals on this board are laughing at you for that one.

As for my Sunday morning "hobby". Of course I responded yo your full of crap, offensive post. You are just dodging the point because you have no answer. You ignored the countless ways that churches help YOUR community Monday - Saturday.

My dad and thousands of pastors like him gave up money to do what they do. You think a few TV charlatans represent the whole bunch?

Do you run a homeless shelter?
Do you work a food pantry?
    Do you sponsor children?
Wanna guess what the data shows in regards to adoption?
Do you fund trips to disaster areas in Haiti?
Ever quit your higher paying job to serve others?

THAT is what most churches are filled with.

    Your ignorance doesnt change that.

You have become one of the posters that the left here complains about. Just starting random grievance posts with no data or substance while adding empty drive by negative ratings.

    Congrats. Lol

You have no idea why I posted the article except my words, which included me clearly defending Christians who are not Christian nationalist. You thinking "I do not have a good understanding of the Church" is an absolutely ignorant comment. You do not know me, which church is being known (Catholic, Baptist, Protestant, Mormon), nor have you the faintest clue as to my beliefs and background.

Ultimately you talk about "pure hysteria" while ignoring that the facts, quotes from politicians, and a quote from a justice contrary to your position. Disingenuous. Done since facts mean nothing set against your opinion.

Same can be said of me on occasion. Nothing in the political realm has ever riled me up as much as this Trump phenomenon, not even Nixon in '68. That's because never in my lifetime have I felt our nation was I peril. I thought it would pass, but its still going on even after Trump fully revealed his disdain of our democratic norms before and after the election. Thus, I have sadly concluded that a significant minority of our population prefers a strongman, and that it is based in large part on racial fear and animus. It is no coincidence that this occurred after Obama, and the very phrase coined by Trump.- Make America Great Again - reflects that. What has also shocked me is the extent to which people who profess to be Christians - including several who post regularly here - approve of an support a man who is the antithesis of everything Christianity stands for. Try as I might, I can't comprehend what mental calisthenics they must go through to justify that approval and support.

After observing how some use their minds to justify even the most outrageous behavior, I concluded decades ago that for all the good our brains have done the planet, we might as well still be apes eating, fornicating, and picking fleas off one another.

    “The way we are living,
    Timorous or bold,
    Will have been our life.”

I do think Christians have become too consumed with nations and borders. Jesus said to render to Caesar that which was already his.

We should vote with our conscience, but to be so enamored with earthly kings was never Gods desire

She isnt even really correct. Hyperbole takes an ounce of truth and turns it into a pound of lies.

Her assessment of the Church as a whole is dead wrong, inaccurate and offensive.

A conservative posting such falsehoods in the covid thread would have 5 pages of people calling them out.

As I said. It is my opinion. And you have provided nothing to change it. In fact you emboldened it with this response.

That is indeed chilling. If I’m there when they read that I’m out the back door and if there is no back door, I’m making one. Really needed an OMG or WOW emoji

"No one is trying to establish Christianity as the religion of this country."

This is patently untrue. The Christian Nationalism movement has deep roots, most recently being revived from the Christian Reconstructionist movement started by the late R J Rushdoony in the 1960's. It later became known as the Christian Dominionist movement, basing it aims and authority on Genesis 1: 26 - "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

Continuing...27,28 - on which their aim to do away with contraceptive practices is based.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

This goes hand in hand with so called 'Christian leaders' who support the harsh treatments against pregnant women who want, or need an abortion to save their lives, preach murderous hate to imprison or execute homosexual people, and the death penalty for rebellious children. They are real and their ranks are growing.

Wiki has an accurate history and synopsis of the growth of the movement Dominion theology - Wikipedia.

In 2007 a Hindu priest making the opening prayer in the US Senate was interrupted by 3 protestors.

"On July 12 of this year (2007), Hindu Chaplain Rajan Zed of Nevada gave the opening prayer in the U.S. Senate. The prayer was disrupted by Christian activists who called prayer in the Senate by a non-Christian an "abomination." The live protest had been preceded by virulent opposition to the invitation to a non-Christian by the Reverend Donald Wildmon, leader of the American Family Association, and David Barton, a "Christian nation" activist.

"This type of intolerance is not new to the Religious Right in the United States. Indeed, a sizeable segment of the Religious Right, Christian Reconstructionists, also called Dominionists, hopes to supplant democracy based on the separation of Church and State with theocracy. The laws, policies, and customs in this theocracy will be grounded in the Bible, including parts of the Old Testament that moderate Christians long ago repudiated, which require "the death penalty for homosexuals, adulterers, fornicators, witches, incorrigible juvenile delinquents and those who spread false religions."

"In May of 2007 Christian Reconstructionists gathered for a four-day conference in Asheville, North Carolina, hosted by a large, wealthy group called American Vision which is based in Powder Springs, Georgia. It is a mistake to view American Vision as an isolated, fringe voice in the Religious Right because it has close ties with the Alliance Defense Fund, which promotes the agenda of the Religious Right in the courts, the Home School Legal Defense Association, the Liberty University School of Law, World magazine, the Traditional Values Coalition, the Southern Baptist Convention, and other influential groups.
Speakers at the May conference were bold and clear about their hopes and wishes:
American Vision President Gary DeMar told the audience that it was time to restore "the sovereignty of God" at home and abroad.

"There were calls for Americans to proclaim that America "was and is a Christian nation..." with a mandate from God to Christianize the world."
    The Christian Reconstructionists | WYSU

And @QGator2414 - it may interest you to know Voddie Baucham, a pastor for whom you have previously expressed admiration on this forum, and Doug Phillips, former head of homeschool enterprise Vision Forum, disgraced for having an affair with the nanny of the youngest of 8 his children, both attended the conference and called on all Christians to withdraw their children from public schools and to immerse them in a Bible-based worldview at home.

    There's more - lots more....

So this uneasy feeling I have that something horrible is sneaking up behind me is not strictly paranoia.
It seems to me the pump is primed in a not insignificant portion of the country for this.

I've been following this growing trend for nearly 20 years and it is snowballing. I'm acquainted with people who are spoiling for a violent confrontation, essentially saying, 'bring it on, the sooner Jesus comes back the better.' Bibliolatry is rampant with biblical literalists actively working to fulfill the end time prophecies of Revelation.

That's one view of the term, a narrow one in my opinion, and some ostensibly woke people can be awfully aggravating, so I get the frustration. However, I think the term was coined by people to mock a well-intentioned movement which threatened their prejudices, some of which I held myself. All of us need to be more open-minded and accepting of others and other lifestyles. In other words, focus on the abuses, but don't mock the movement. Based on a few of the posts here, I think that will be impossible for some.

Do you really believe that an in utero fetus lept for joy and is "evidence" because it's in a passage written thousands of years ago??

That’s not worthy of you. Plank’s mind may well be firmly set but he has given a lot of thought and study to his beliefs.

Yep, it is a slam dunk as far as evidence is concerned. The Bible says it. Case closed. The only correct response to it is to repent and bring our ideology in line with what the Bible teaches.

See #157. That's not wisdom, at least not in my book. Wisdom is a whole lot more than studying the Bible and quoting it in every circumstance. I agree, however, not to respond to his "firmly set" - never the sign of wisdom - posts any more.

    Who is Doug Phillips?

Maybe you meant Douglas Wilson? I certainly have posted his stuff before…

    Blog & Mablog

    Besides that fact…

How is the supporting of parents to take their kids out of public school and give them a Christ centered education establishing a religion? It proves the point that very few are trying to establish Christianity as a religion. It proves they want people to be able to Freely Express their religion.

There is a minority party out there that I would classify as Christian Nationalists. Ironically there name is the Christian Liberty Party. They split from the Constitution Party because the Constitution Party would not agree to identify as a Christian Party. Considering I can’t find membership numbers I will assume they are smaller than the Constitution Party which currently has a whopping 137,367 members. I would support the Constitution Party but unfortunately they have lost traction and gotten smaller.

    Christian Liberty Party - Wikipedia

Constitution Party (United States) - Wikipedia

Are there Christian Nationalists? Yes. I never argued otherwise. But to act like they are some formidable group that has any chance of getting power…is just hogwash. There just are not that many who believe wrongly that Christianity can be the religion of this country.
