Just saw that. Great news. Must be some orchestration going on between the coaches and those prospects.

I fell out with the NFL over free agency and the insane salaries. I haven't watched an NFL season in a decade or so. My concern for college football is money is on THE VERGE OF RUINING THE COLLEGE SPORT! The players were already paid with a scholarship, now GREED HAS TAKEN OVER!!!

Im fine with players getting 50% of whatever money the team generates as it is in all sports. The amount of money doesn’t matter to me, just the ratio. I think the thing that turned me off to the nfl is stuff like Jamies Winston and the league putting winning ahead of accountability and players putting themselves ahead of the team.

If you’re talking about net profit, maybe, even then it’s problematic because only a hand full of college athletic programs generate a profit.
The problem is that NFL teams pay their football players because their football athletes generate (directly and indirectly) that teams income. They also help foster the increase in investment value of the owners asset, namely whatever franchise it is.
Collegiate football teams (and some basketball teams) tote the load for 15-20 other non revenue sports, NFL teams don’t. ( the appropriateness of that is another separate debate)
In addition our UAA (some don’t) pays for every athletic facility on campus. They pay for the construction, the maintenance, the security, personnel salaries, and even event fees for every venue on campus.
In most cases NFL teams have at least partially taxpayer subsidized facilities, some are almost totally taxpayer funded.
I not against paying the players that make collegiate sports the great entertainment they are, but until the business models change, the NFL and collegiate athletics are not equivalent, and that’s without taking in to account any future ramifications Title IX has on NIL.

You’re absolutely right this has not fully played out by any means.

Doubt Miami wants him. I've never been all that high on him, and certainly not a fan of the way the recruitment has been handled.

You wouldn’t think Texas is going to run short of cash. Weird recruitment for sure. Kid makes a lot of waves. Not making himself a fan favorite.

I actually wanted him more LAST year when he was a junior in HS than I do now. Dude has put on weight and while I don't mind playing the game during recruiting, I just think he's doing the most for a person who isn't a can't miss prospect.

If NFL players aren't mature enough to handle the money and the publicity, what about the 17 and 18 year olds still in college? I am afraid for the out-of-control money deals ruining the game of football! And the mega conferences that are currently developing is ALL-ABOUT-MONEY, and it's NOT in the interest of collegiate sports either!!!

It’s always all about tge money. I can accept that part but playing a rapist to win a title is not something I’ll watch. My kid was a lifelong Bucs fan. They drafted Winston and he hasn’t watched another game.

That stinks. Winning a super bowl in Tampa was pretty cool.

But sometimes it gets to be too much. If the gators supported a player like Winston, I’d be done
