Pretty much everyone is willing to agree to banning abortions post-viability. We even have generally had consensus on not aborting past the quickening, which clearly John the Baptist was past in that passage. The sticking point for many people is the declaration that personhood, and legal protections, begin at conception. Do you have any scriptural evidence for this?
All I say to that is why would you be concerned about someone telling you that you are going to hell when you don't even believe in Christianity? I don't my views on anybody?
Really no different than "Black Lives Matter." What is wrong with Black lives? Nothing at all. It is just that the slogan is WAAAAAAY different from the organized chaos-peddlers who coined and are nurturing it as a "if you don't say it and believe it and do what we tell you, no questions asked, then you are WICKED!" mantra. Do the "nice intellectuals" know the difference? I didn't think so. They are too busy being righteous and kind. Well, kind to anyone who believes a Nationalized Abortion Right (R v W) is correct, SCOTUS be damned, and "less-than-kind" to any and everyone who does not.
The "come on man" rating is what she does when you post a statistaical fact from a reputable source like Pew and she has no answer for it. Her facts are in her own mind' made up from the margins that you mention. Oh...and the "come on man" rating is right there jj ...............................................
Woke is merely a modern, no-think, term to justify a belief. In the light of the OP, it is profoundly clear that there is the "good side" - what Jesus wants to "woke" against - and the bad side - those who claim to be 1) Christian today and 2) conservative. And then throw in the Pub Party affiliation as a bonus. Does anyone recognize that being a "conservative" in the US is exactly opposite of being a conservative in Russia? It depends on your original frame of reference. And I am talking about the former USSR headquarters and not the space now known as Russia before the last Ice Age.
The sticking point to me is how in the world can someone who has no idea when an election ends can say when life/personhood begins.
@tegator80 Only quoting a portion of your post to ask for a link to source or context. When I googled the quote the only reference I found was to your own Too Hot post on this thread. "I think it plausible to birth a child - without regard to any child infirmity - and then give the mother an ample timeframe to decide whether she chooses to send their soul on its merry way and away from her and any responsibilities...no exceptions." - Google Search
Well, Stevie Wonder could see that post coming. Look I’m glad you have a place to practice your beliefs that you enjoy with other like-minded people. However your hyper-conservative posts, and responses, tell me your church has quietly molded you accepting Trumpism as acceptable. I may be wrong, but that’s the impression I get. My gripe isn’t with Christianity, you, or your dad, it’s with the religious right, which is an undeniable political movement that uses religion as a cover to justify, profit from, and rationalize its political views, much in the same way that southern slave owners used religion as a cover to justify and rationalize its economic, social, cultural and political system based on slavery. The religious right, Trump, and “Christian” cons are symptoms of the moral, ethical, intellectual, political and religious bankruptcy of the Republican/MAGA movement. The demon seed has rooted deeply in Cult45, in Trumpworld, in the GOP/con movement and in the "religious" right, nourished and sustained by the shameful acquiescence, hypocrisy, duplicity, cowardice, venality, dishonesty, depravity and avarice of its hosts.
Though the results from the study linked below are 10 years old, they are nonetheless relevant to this thread. The researchers asked respondents to imagine what Jesus would have thought about contemporary issues such as taxation, immigration, same-sex marriage and abortion. Republican Christians imagined a Jesus who tended to be against wealth redistribution, illegal immigrants, abortion and same-sex marriage; whereas Democrat Christians believe Jesus would have had far more liberal opinions. INAUGURAL ARTICLE by a Recently Elected Academy Member:How Christians reconcile their personal political views and the teachings of their faith: Projection as a means of dissonance reduction Abstract The present study explores the dramatic projection of one's own views onto those of Jesus among conservative and liberal American Christians. In a large-scale survey, the relevant views that each group attributed to a contemporary Jesus differed almost as much as their own views. Despite such dissonance-reducing projection, however, conservatives acknowledged the relevant discrepancy with regard to “fellowship” issues (e.g., taxation to reduce economic inequality and treatment of immigrants) and liberals acknowledged the relevant discrepancy with regard to “morality” issues (e.g., abortion and gay marriage). However, conservatives also claimed that a contemporary Jesus would be even more conservative than themselves on the former issues whereas liberals claimed that Jesus would be even more liberal than themselves on the latter issues. Further reducing potential dissonance, liberal and conservative Christians differed markedly in the types of issues they claimed to be more central to their faith. A concluding discussion considers the relationship between individual motivational processes and more social processes that may underlie the present findings, as well as implications for contemporary social and political conflict. .... .... Predictions First and foremost, we predict that Christian liberals and conservatives will differ in how conservative vs. liberal the views are that they attribute to Jesus. A second prediction is that the two groups will differ in the issues they see as most central to their notion of Christianity (and presumably the issues that would be most important to Jesus if he lived today)—issues of fellowship and compassion in the case of Christian liberals and issues of conventional morality in the case of Christian conservatives. We also predict that, although liberals will claim that Jesus would be more conservative than themselves on morality issues and conservatives will claim that Jesus would be more liberal than themselves on fellowship issues, the groups will differ in the priority they assign to Christian teaching on these issues in a way that serves to reduce potential dissonance with respect to their own views. Specifically, liberals will assign greater priority to fellowship issues and conservatives will assign greater priority to morality issues. .....
I’m the hysterical child? You’re the one posting with hormonal, hand-waving freakoutery. By the way, take some time to look at how your side is voting on gun/gun-owner control in the Senate. When your side only offers thoughts and prayers when a crazy person, who obtained a gun legally, murders children, but then talks about jailing women for having a miscarriage, you can’t tell me the implication isn’t there.
Well you could just leave it at that (the bolded part), but look at your first sentence. Referring to someone's religion as a hobby is about as insulting as you can be. you're being completely disingenuous here.
No—voting for a complete loser like Biden is absurd. And we are watching that absurdity play out every day. Give me Trump any day over Loser Biden. Sleepy Joe is a disaster!
You are correct in many of your points, I think, but your overly confrontational engagement with others on this forum is offensive to the point few are willing to engage in discussing or debating issues with you. Your exaggerated and hyperbolic posting style is irrational and your contempt and impudence is out of bounds for productive discussion.
My my now calling something a hobby is an insult. A bit of advice. Announcing "I'm insulted" is basically telling the world you can't control your emotions, so everyone else should do it for you. However I’ll edit it to sooth the damaged sensitivities.
Sorry I should have said hysterical petulant child… What are you talking about. There is evil in the world. It is awful hearing terrible stories where bad people do awful things. I bet most on both sides agree with more than they disagree with on the issues of guns. Outside the fringe no one should own a gun but the state and everyone should be able to buy a GAU-8 Avenger 30mm gatling gun with no restrictions. Back to the topic… No one is trying to establish Christianity as the religion of this country.
