    That is a good point.

More proof that both parties suck and neither is fiscally responsible.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step in any solution.

First, I was saying trying to say China is doing a lot to address Climate Change, and they are. I certainly didn't say the US is doing nothing.

This link says otherwise. Advantages and Challenges of Wind Energy

    About what?

Not true. For example, eating a vegetarian diet cuts your carbon footprint and saves money (directly and indirectly). Yet only 5% of American's are vegetarian.

Driving a fuel efficient car saves you money, yet how many Americans drive around in F150s or massive SUVs?

    This is false.

U.S. levelized energy costs by source 2021 | Statista

Per megawatt hour, utility scale solar ranges from $28-$41, onshore wind ranges from $26-$50, gas combined cycle is $45-$74, nuclear is $131-$204, and coal is $65-$152.

Jeebus, just keep working towards renewables but don't act like we can just flip a switch by the end of biden's climate emergency term. And until then, let everyone live their lives in relative carbon peace and prosperity please.

Yet alone it does nothing to solve the problem.

We're probably doing more than the Chinese. You lose credibility when you dismiss the lack of commitment from the Chinese, but bring the hammer down on the US. Considering the we're directly competing with the Chinese economically, what the Chinese do and how climate affects the economy is relevant.

Nuclear Power is the Most Reliable Energy Source and It's Not Even Close

    This link says otherwise.

Efficiency. Nuclear energy and fossil fuels are more efficient than solar and wind.

Those numbers for nuclear would be for new plants coming online (hypothetically)?

Yes, I believe so. It is also unsubsidized (on both sides of the comparison).

So we shouldn't take the first step? Real problem solver you are.

Who the heck is bringing any hammers down? Wow...

The fact you don't know the difference between capacity factor and cost effectiveness is telling.

Which you have been proven wrong about multiple times now.

“We’ve acknowledged there’s a problem guys. I guess we fixed climate change. Boy that was easy.”

You are bringing the hammer down. You’re demanding the US does these things to fight climate change, then say “don’t worry about the Chinese, they’re already doing plenty.”

You’re right, I shouldn’t have conflated capacity factor with efficiency.

Insulting people you want to persuade may not be the best strategy.

I’ll keep hunting, meat-eating, driving pickups and enjoying life. Cry about it.

I give up. You have no interest in an honest discussion.

Again, dishonest response. I never said China is doing plenty. However, you said they weren't doing anything. I was responding that they are in fact doing a lot.

Ok, now take the next step and admit I was right that wind and solar are cost competitive.

    Oh the irony.

I wouldn't think so because A/C is a luxury. The markets on fans is skyrocketing. The millions who live in council housing will be baked. I was stationed there 10 years and not even the base housing we lived had A/C. We had a couple of hot summers in the low 90s living next to a farmers field, the smell of pig crap is forever baked in my brain.

I will say it depends how you look at it. There are reasons we're not putting all of our eggs in the proverbial wind and solar basket, but I should have phrased why differently.

That was admittedly rooted in ignorance on my end.

It was, I said then, and I'm saying now, they are doing a lot.

China’s Fight Against Climate Change and Environmental Degradation

What I never said is "don't worry about them." Clearly they are a huge part of the problem. Thankfully they seem to recognize it and seem to be committed to working towards a solution.

I would say you were basing it on old information. The costs of solar and wind have been dropping a lot over the last couple of decades.

You gain a lot of credit with me for saying that though. If I'm ever wrong I hope I have the courage to admit it. LOLz.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm seeing KP5 for Thursday and Friday. Will monitor our local weather & check the skies at night.
