Jesus said: 7. [1] Judge not, that ye be not judged. [2] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Matthew 23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses. 3 So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach. 4 They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.

You make the term “woke” sound dirty which is what religious snobs and white supremacists do. By today’s definition Jesus was indeed woke. In Luke 9 He protests the religious elitism of even his disciples who want to call down fire on a man using Jesus’ name but not walking in their Jesus group. Rebuking their exclusivism Jesus declares, “if he is not against Me, he is for Me”.

By your judgemental religious elite standard, which is a perversion of reality, I would be careful casting stones in your glass house.

    You get it!!!
The reason I think so many view, "woke" as a derogatory term is for most woke folks, I must change my values to reflect theirs. I am not trying to force my opinion on anyone, just want the right to have mine that may differ from yours. "Wokeness" does not allow for you to differ on anything. Not supporting an idea doesn't mean you can't still have your idea.

For someone defending the right of mentally disturbed people to walk into a school and kill children I find your comment hypocritical at best.

I suppose it depends on how you define woke. Jesus was not woke if you are using the right-wing caricature of woke.

You don’t even know what the slang term “Woke” means. It means being alert to racial prejudice and discrimination. That’s all. Your definition was made up nonsense from some MAGA think tank, and has nothing to do with being woke.

    This conversation:

Article in OP: Many people, including many Christians, have experienced "Christian Nationalism" and have even formed large Christian groups opposing the trend.

    Reply by Q:
Facts with cites presented showing 50% of evangelicals believe Trump was anointed by God and 36% of evangelical protestants believe we should merge church/state (presumably their church). Quote from Representative Boebert about "getting rid of this separation of church and state junk." And quote from Clarence Thomas: "the First Amendment was simply agnostic on the subject of state establishments; the decision to establish or disestablish religion was reserved to the states."

The Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty even released a report on this concerning trend and its impact on 1/6. Report on Christian nationalism and the January 6 insurrection

    But Q remains defiant:
At which point you realize that in the face of evidence, facts, and direct quotes, the "is not" defense of a 5 year old has been invoked. And you wonder at your own sanity by engaging in such a conversation.

Sadly I thought this article presented a nice common ground to engage people over an important core principle of our country. Yet there can be no discussion with folks in Plato's cave.

Read Luke chapter 1. An in utero John the Baptist, conceived at the very least 6 months before Jesus, leaping for joy at the presence of an in utero Jesus is pretty strong evidence to the contrary. What that passage teaches us about the sanctity of life of in utero human beings is nothing short of a slam dunk as far as the abortion debate goes.

There you go again making the assumption that you know all.
If you think think all woke means is to be alert to racial prejudice and discrimination, then you need to do a little more than just watch the "View"

Translation from Aramaic to Greek, and then to old English sometimes produces an incorrect meanings. This “leaping” happens to be one of them. Apparently you’ve never been pregnant, or ever been around pregnant women. While fetuses can shift, kick, and otherwise move, actual physical leaping is beyond their ability. And it’s not a surprise that a fetus kicks and moves inside the womb at any time. My niece was kicking inside my sister, so I suppose she was leaping for joy that I was around.

I certainly don’t claim to “know all,” but I do know the term “Woke” is a slang term from the African-American community that means exactly what I said it means.

You've mistakenly ID'd "woke" people as christian nationalists.

And I know next you're going to be like well "woke" people are so angry -- well yeah, because for years Christians have sat and told them they are going to hell, or their lifestyle is wrong or whatever rather than just shutting up and letting people live. Perhaps if you let them live and listened to their very real experiences and accepted them as a reality they would be more willing to accept your personal values and how you want to live your life. So, with that I ask...how does it feel?

Tell me you know nothing about most churches without saying you know nothing about most churches.

    That word salad is garbage.
Doors locked? How would you know? Have you ever walked up to a church at 2 pm on a Tuesday and pulled on it?

Have you ever seen a person at those doors say, only paying customers are allowed?

Are you aware that the overwhelming majority of pastors in this country make less than 50k a year but basically are tasked with the chores of a large business to run?

Our church has a food pantry, handles homeless sheltering, is a huge part of our local meals on wheels volunteers, sends huge groups of people to disaster relief areas on the churches dime... Oh and never mentions politics. We are not the exception. We are a normal (large) non denominational church body in the Bible belt.

My dad pastors a small church that is very involved in such things as well. He gave up a successful business 30 years ago to do it. Has lived a very humble life.

Your made up, clueless narrative is offensive and ignorant. It is wrong. Inaccurate and based on so many false hoods I can't even lost them all.

I always wonder what these stone throwers from your side do. How much time they spend dedicating their career to affordable housing (at a financial step back), or spend any time in a food pantry, or talking to homeless people or on a missions trip.

If you do, good for you, but you probably needed a church to do it, because in most communities they are the ones heading up the shelters and pantries and trips and affordable housing etc.

So like I said. Show me you know nothing about churches without saying it.

This will make the Top 10 for Most Dumb Post of the Year.

No one has a right to go into a school and kill children. And no one has ever suggested this. You sound like a hysterical child!

The type of movement is not what makes the passage so forceful in the debate. The important word there is joy. It points to the undeniable image of God in the in utero child. In the story of the prodigal son the father welcomes the return of his prodigal son with joy. Jesus teaches us that God has joy when sinners repent and come home to their Father. So, an emotion we know is true of God towards us human beings is what an in utero John the Baptist experienced in the presence of a pregnant Mary with an in utero Christ.

I know that there are plenty of people who would die on the hill of abortion, but I think very few are so hardened that they would openly and boldly say they approve the killing of a joyful human being. I think when we process things like Sandy Hook, Uvalde, etc...what rocks our world so much is children are such joyful innocent human beings. It is not the viability of the children that makes such acts so horrific and horrifying. It is their innocence and joy and their unviability in defending themselves that makes killing them such depraved acts. And what the Bible is telling us is that is also true of unborn children.

I don’t think that is why you posted the OP. Just like I do not think you have a good understanding of the Church. But that is my opinion.

It is pure hysteria to think there are a bunch of “Christian Nationalists” out there trying to establish there version of Christianity as religion of this country. Believe as you wish. I would wager you could go to your 20 most popular churches in your community and the odds of finding just one pushing Christian Nationalism is basically zero.

Hey, an intellectual with a bible!

You want to read what you want to read, because it gives your beliefs coverage. That is called "confirmation bias." It also goes to cognitive dissonance, which means you can be "pro-life" if it involves a convicted murderer of great evil intent and "pro-choice" if it involves an unborn but viable-outside-the-womb child. My former Governor, who is a devout Democrat and a practicing pediatrician, said in public "I think it plausible to birth a child - without regard to any child infirmity - and then give the mother an ample timeframe to decide whether she chooses to send their soul on its merry way and away from her and any responsibilities...no exceptions." Yep, THAT is the definition of a devoted Democrat.

And yes, my take is as silly as the gist of the original post. Did you even read my original post, or are you just another woke intellectual?

I will not parse your bible verses as I have learned a long time ago, that you don't argue with a, um, less-than-wise person with a firmly closed mind. You will never win and they beat you down with experience. Good day to you.
