4 dead, 2 others injured. Mall shooter was stopped by a Samaritan lawfully carrying a firearm. From the article: "The real hero of the day was the Samaritan that was lawfully carrying a firearm who was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as it began," Ison said. Three dead after man opens fire in Indiana mall, police say shooter killed by 'good Samaritan' Thankfully there was a good Samaritan lawfully armed and willing to take on this shooter.
As more and more people are armed and kill people in public places, I guess there will be more opportunities for good guys with guns to be heroes. That’s definitely a glass half full take.
Ultimately, we are responsible. Uvalde’s police response demonstrated that quite well. The veneer of safety and security is quickly shattered by an angry driver, a despondent teen or even a misguided police officer.
You gun nuts just want to treat the symptoms, not the cause. Every solution is “more guns” which is not a solution but an arms race.
Not only that but in a perfect America there would be an armed bystander to shoot the Good Samaritan.
And then another armed bystander to shoot the armed bystander who shot the Good Samaritan who shot the 4-year old. Sounds like a wonderful society to live in!
I wonder how the Samaritan got the jump on this shooter, who was apparently shooting a rifle, whereas the Samaritan reportedly was armed with a handgun. Shooter was maybe 20 yrs old and had more guns stashed in the bathroom. Why do kids want to do this on their way out? Just me personally, but I prefer not to count the shooter among the dead. Three innocent people lost their lives to senseless violence and at least one other is wounded, reportedly a 12yr old girl. Hope she makes a full recovery. Edit: 12yr old girl was treated and released. Another is still in the hospital.
sooner or later there will be - another armed bystander who doesn’t see the original shooter but sees the first armed bystander draw
You really can't even give this guy his due? Wow. Moms running into schools to confront shooters are heroes, while cops do nothing..... yet a 22 year old man stops a mass shooter by himself and and he deserves to die? That's something there.
Are you saying this man didn't save lives? Or do you not care about the lives he saved because of the way he saved their lives?
He’s a hero no doubt, but doesn’t change the fact that guns killed 5 people in this situation and could have killed more.
Does the good Samaritan deserve to die because he was lawfully carrying a gun and stopped a mass shooter by himself?
of course he deserves credit, my post wasn’t about him though. The point is that “good guys with guns” aren’t the answer when there’s still four people dead and two more hurt, even if it could have been worse.
