India is run by a conservative majority right now and has been since 2014. And like are people stoned? Uk has been torn apart by conservatives the past few years. Boris Johnson ring a bell? I didn't write the piece so to say I am wrong concerning India is huge stretch don't you think? What I will say is India's actions so far are more in support of their own interests and if that means going against NATO and European allies that's exactly what they are going to do. The article also brings out the fact that riots and disagreement are not just limited to socialist / authoritarian nations. They are everywhere and since they do not fit the narrative of Russia bad the reporting gets little to no mention in the news.

Many of the French protesters took to the streets on May Day for salary increases and against President Emmanuel Macron’s increase of the retirement age. In April, thousands gathered at a labor union-organized rally with communist groups organizing rallies in May decrying the high rate of inflation. . Thousands of Argentines meanwhile flocked to protest against the economic hardships felt by the country upon cutting spending and Brits flocked out in February to protest rising costs of living, with demonstrations held in at least 25 towns and cities and signs reading, “tax the rich” and “freeze prices not the poor.” Thousands of Moroccans joined protests in February to decry the increasing cost of living, with unions staging more demonstrations France where more than 120,000 people protested government pension reforms. This is such a ridiculous and child like level of thinking in that article. What an embarrassment.
You must be a youngin. Before the mid 1970s, the US was #1 in almost everything. In every vertical and industry, the US was #1. We actually owned the world until over-unionization allowed other countries to catch up and then surpass the US. Why buy a Pacer when you could buy a Toyota or Datsun for half the price, 3 times the gas mileage and far better reliability?
Concerning France and the UK the form of the nation's governments are? I think you know they are democratic forms of government unless something has drastically changed. Morocco is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy. Argentina is a democratic presidential republic. The fact that certain factions are rioting doesn't change the form of government does it?
Not at all the objection raised in the article I posted is these riots are given short shrift by US news media because it doesn't fit the narrative of NATO and allies against Russia.

Sure, but being #1 in everything doesn't mean being independent in everything. We were dependent on middle east oil, right? Being #1 in everything also doesn't necessarily mean better living standards than now. Rome was #1 in everything at some point of time, and probably a lot more independent in everything than 1960's US. Would you like to go back to having a mortality rate of 50% by age 5, and a life expectancy in the low 20's?
Not at all Russia's actions against Ukraine are abhorrent. That said the question becomes how did we get here in the first place and what prompted Russia to act in such a manner. Did Russia have grievances that were note worthy? Absolutely. Did the free world ignore them and push the envelope? Absolutely. Now that we are in this quagmire the question becomes what is the best approach the free world should take. I believe if you read everything I have posted in this thread you know exactly where I stand on the issue so no need in repeating myself.
So you aren't siding with them and think what they did is abhorrent, but you think that they were correct to do abhorrent stuff because you think that we made them do it by...what exactly? No, you haven't suggested that we do anything as of yet. What should we do about the abhorrent actions of Russia?
The long and short of it is free wolrd diplomatic failures and NATO interventions played a huge role in Russia's reactions. Here you will get both sides of the argument. Should the U.S. Be Arming Ukraine Against Russia? Should the U.S. give full military and political support to Ukraine in its war with Russia, short of sending troops? So you can't read my previous posts throughout this thread and you can't be bothered to hear both sides of the argument and we are left to deal with the situation as it currently stands. I see no need in carrying on a conversation with you if you cannot afford the time to understand my current position and why as has been posted throughout this thread. The US, NATO and our allies are doing something by providing weapons, intelligence and sanctions. The unfortunate part is at this juncture that is all we can do. Russia will take Ukraine. The question is what happens after Russia takes Ukraine?
