While there certainly are exceptions on the extreme the overwhelming majority of white liberals have never used the history of racism in the US as an excuse for racially motivated attacks by black perpetrators and for that matter attacks of vandalism and violence by black perpetrators.

 

I live in a white upper middle class bubble, surrounded by upper middle class white people.
You want to know why only one side of racism dominates conversation? Because of systematic racism. It's cooked in, because one race has been disproportionately in charge for all of history and so when those people are racist, it has a disproportionate impact on the other races. That's as dumbed down as I can make this for you.
One poor racist black guy on the corner can't do as much damage as a racist white guy who runs for office, or who runs a corporation, or who controls hiring for a major university, etc. etc. So we don't start a lot of posts about 3 black women beating up a white woman, because it just isn't as interesting. Any crime based on race is hateful and should be roundly condemned, but as far as discussing broader societal issues on a message board, it's just not as relevant.

The world has changed and it’s done so very quickly. It seems this has passed you by. Racism is not Americas “big” problem any longer and that has left guys like you without a cause.
I also live in a similar social bubble as you, but unlike you, my circle seems to include a more diverse group of people. I don’t hang out with any gay people to my knowledge, but I have friends who are Hispanic and black. They all feel the same way I do about this subject.
You would have been better suited to have grown up in the 60s. Then your goals to help fix societal racism would have made more sense. I think that’s where the big gap seems to originate in our interactions.
