These kids think they're getting a signing contract/pay-to-play deal but the reality is starting to set in for them... It's legally not supposed to be a play-to-play deal. It's supposed to kick in after you get on campus and prove you are going to contribute meaningfully to the team. That is how it's supposed to work. A reward for after signing to play...

Thanks for posting that twitter link in this thread, ETGator.

Doesn't that just pretty much confirm for any one here who still had doubts, that they are paying money to kids before they actually sign?

These players should know they are NOT signing a contract to play football... That's all a BIG LIE.

I'm sure UGA, Tennessee and Miami are still handing out bags to get kids to sign.

Doesn’t matter what it’s for from their perspective as long as the check clears. Keeping their word will go a long way for schools. Kids will visit and hear straight from the players. They won’t fool people very long if that’s what some are doing. If the players keep coming to certain schools, we know tge check cleared.

We need more people raising doubts on Miami's NIL future. The media or at least some meme makers lol. Too much shady stuff with evidence and real concerns, like the Rashada deal with the contract and agent, as well as using a publicly traded company to buy players for his college team.

At the very least the company won't allow more deals at some point, and at worst: they get punished by ncaa, state laws, FBI (breaking laws across states with Cali), the company lawyers up to not fulfill the contracts or they maybe even go bankrupt from it's stock tanking even more as no one trusts Ruiz. Heck the other owners could sue Ruiz or get the SEC (the bad one) involved. Those are real concerns.

We’ll it confirms they are a the very least insinuating that, but it appears that what the kids are hearing and what is being delivered are often two different things.
I believe (don’t know) that UF is playing NIL straight up, and that it is hurting them right now. Whether that changes is a matter of conjecture, but common sense seems to dictate “collectives” for the schools playing loose with the truth will pay a price for their duplicity. Not from the NCAA but from the athletes themselves.
I suspect signing day this year will have an inordinate amount of surprises.

What a mess! If players start holding out, talk about team chemistry. You have a bunch of players (maybe even starters) probably not getting much, if any NIL, working towards a team goal (wins) and now you have your star player arguably jeopardizing that goal by not playing just to "get his money"? He should get what he is promised, but still... If the locker room wasn't resentful before, I bet they will be now if this starts happening.

The contracts that pay HS players a percentage even if they decommit or transfer are absurd.

NIL was intended to allow players to leverage their popularity as a player for commercial purposes, not as a recruiting tool. Now we have situations where all ship players are paid, HS kids have agents negotiating their commitment, kids people don’t know are being paid by companies for fake marketing. Clearly just rich alumni paying players to attend their university. The company is getting no value from the arrangement. Not like a Tebow that was known nationally while in college.

Bama fans claiming they are the best and only way to get to the nfl because of Sabans coaching Is irritating. Florida has pumped out tons of pros despite having relatively sub par recruiting. I imagine our ratio of producing pros considering our class rankings may be similar

And furthermore, they can’t be obligated to play for the team tgat paid them. Maybe that needs to change if they can’t do any better legally. If we have to pay to play, at least we should have a legally binding contract to at least get what we paid for. Pay but they don’t have to play is what we have now.

Promised??? Ha!!! Most of us knew that players would need professional fiduciary legal representation. The NCAA, I believe, should have seen this coming from a mile.
