It is quite a nice place to live, but would be unlivable from May-Oct without A/C.

AND Florida was much nicer when it was a lot more cow pastures and way less strip mall sprawl.

California isn’t for everyone, and a lot of people are leaving California to retire in Texas and Florida. However it’s a state that has more freedom than any red state. It does have more regulations because it’s obviously a more ecologically sensitive state. Further it’s a more diverse state. For the record Florida is slowly turning into California with housing costs going up, the coastal ecology dying, a demand for more and better services, and fresh clean water becoming more scarce.

    Let me get this straight.
California has more freedom, but many more regulations…..hmmmm
Something is awry. Can’t put my finger on it.

Only if your idea of freedom is being able to die in an industrial accident or be legally poisoned by a corporation

Ron DeSantis is a shitty governor. And no, I'm not a fan of Gavin Newsom.

If the "libs" left this state, much of the economy would leave with them.

My idea of being free is having a government that has no regard for the First Amendment, democratic values, or LGBTQ rights. That's why I am happy to be in the "Free State of Florida."

Yep, if you like your small business crushed, being masked and locked in the house for months on end while he parties like it's 1999...that's your guy.

    Newsom vs Trump?

Of course I'd vote for Newsom. What a silly question.

I for one think it would be refreshing to have a hot, sleazy president straight out of a 90s political thriller.

Can’t believe there is any debate here. Do you jokers not understand supply and demand? Crappy places have low cost of living. Otherwise everyone would want to live there and they’d have high property values. Sometime you guys a crack me up.

Shutting down your economy isnt the same as running one.

The only thing awry is your reading. I gave a reason for the regulations being because California is an environmentally sensitive state. Do I need to explain what I mean by environmentally sensitive means? Look at the now and then pictures of Los Angeles as a result of environmental regulations. The thermal inversion held the smog in the city unable to clear.

    Yes, my reading is ok.
I do some biz in CA and no one, nobody thinks that state has freedom. In fact, that place probably has the craziest, suffocating regs in the country. And libbies are always thinking up new crazy ideas to drive biz owners crazy out there. It sucks, everyone needs lawyers to navigate the silliness.
It’s all fun until the libbies drive the money makers away. It might be happening.

Do you even understand the concept of freedom? Freedom doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want, there are always limitations. The people you do business with in California probably weren’t alive, or living in Los Angeles during the 60’s when the pollution was so bad birds were dropping dead from the sky, or that when it rained the acidic water would eat the paint off cars. I understand your point. To you it’s more important to make money than to have clean air and water. Fortunately you’re in the minority.

That makes no sense. You know that. That's the best part.
