Is this the wave of the future? If so bye bye SCOTUS.
China Incorporates Artificial Intelligence in Its Judicial System
The Supreme People's Court in Beijing, China, claims that artificial intelligence has been incorporated into every aspect of China's judicial system and plays a part in every decision.

Xu Jianfeng, director of the supreme court's information center, in a report published on Tuesday in Strategic Study of CAE, an official journal run by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said per South China Morning Post (SCMP): "The smart court SoS (system of systems) now connects to the desk of every working judge across the country."

The system, driven by machine learning technology, automatically checks court cases for references, suggests rules and regulations, creates legal documents, and, if necessary, changes verdicts that appear to have been tainted by human mistake.

According to a journal article, AI reduced the typical workload of judges by more than a third between 2019 and 2021, saving Chinese residents 1.7 billion working hours.

China, always playing catch up. Glorified Siri in loser courts, while we recently placed three fully preprogrammed automatons on the Big Daddy.

I wonder what they do when the IA machines figure out that their overlords, the Chinese CCP, is the enemy and they must be destroyed? Hmm... Skynet china style...

We used to put a metal plate on wood poles behind the plate playing Wiffle ball, if it hit it, strike, no questions asked. Even the wackadoodle benders you can throw with a Wiffle ball. Worked at least as well as MLB umps.

A metal plate is better than Angel Hernandez. I guarantee that. :)

That was actually outstanding real-world practice at ~12 years old or so. You had to chase ludicrous benders all the way to you. Once I was in HS and even college that nasty wasn’t as bad (still nasty.) I recommend any parent with an aspiring baseball player to go heavy on WB.

    Back to Chinese AI.

Noted. My 11 year old is a good athlete. Basketball is his passion though. Started baseball a little late, will probably try out the WB idea summer. He plays it with his friends but they are fooling around.:emoji_punch:

WB is serious biz yo, don’t let them denigrate it!

Seriously, I fouled off 28 pitches in one game against Freddie Maggard in HS (across three at bats, and all ground outs in the end; he no-hit us.) All because of the fast-twitch wrists WB teaches.

Let’s see who remembers Freddie. Not UF, but SEC.

This might be my best derail ever.

Derails are good. They probably show us what we actually have in common, which is often more than most of us realize.

Like everyone agrees that it's awesome that the Rays just swept those clowns from Bean Town right!?

AI can only do what the developer trains it to do. Even then, depending on the type of AI, it very well may not even do what the developer intended it to do.

AI has actually been around for a long while. What everyone now associates as AI is Deep Learning, which is often unsupervised depending on the development. Unsupervised AI is where one can get unintended results.

Have to disagree with you there, Tilly. Tallahassee does not have a Major League Team. ;) Go Sox!
